How does Europol de-anonymize these services? Do they just leave ToR nodes up long enough to collect enough traffic statistics to make an educated guess?

That shouldn't work, all the known de-anonymizing flaws in the TOR protocol have been patched, as far as I am aware. Plus, a suspicious node would be noticed fairly quickly and quarantined off of TOR proper if it was acting suspicious. However, they may be using 0-day flaws no one else knows about that aren't patched. That is always a possibility and a risk. The world governments are well known for paying top dollar for 0-day flaws to hackers (black or white hat, they don't give a shit) that they then exploit for their various nefarious purposes.

As a long time DNM user, I can say without a doubt that Archtyp was the best market to ever exist.
The developer actually gave a shit - there was a wiki, users could get their own private mirrors (gets around ddos), used XMR, allowed the userbase to vote on features in polls, you could transfer XMR between accounts on market, and it even had a lottery pool (I wonder if anybody ended up winning that jackpot, last I saw it was like 180+ XMR).
Something that really stood out to me was that the dev even implemented a user setting that allowed users to ban themselves from the lottery - presumably for users with gambling problems.

The biggest drug marketplace right now, Archetyp Market, has been seized and it's administrator arrested, by German Authorities. It has been dubbed "Operation Deep Sentinel", and had some gay cartoon made for it.

Pure speculation on my part, but I think that he got caught because he was an easy target and they're focusing heavily on making an example out of him to try to scare everyone else. This seems to be a sign that this "Operation Deep Sentinel" is weak, likely not too well funded and probably already past the halfway point before coming to a close. If they were nearly half as fast, hard and serious as they like to try to depict themselves as being, they wouldn't be tipping off all his contacts that they could be next. These kinds of fear games are done by those that would rather all their adversaries chicken out than having to actually pursue them, I think that's a sign of weakness.

Also the cartoon looks AI generated as fuck in a lot of places.

You would think showing the dopey mugshots would be a better deterrent than a cartoon that shows dealing drugs online is a path to luxury cars, apartments and vacations. Fanfare like this always makes me suspicious that they did less work or have less evidence than expected.

I was watching the cartoon and I thought it was a joke for only a second only to remember it was made seriously, this is just a joke to them, now there's more reason for people to make their own drug sites just so they can see the stupid cartoons they come up. Who is this even for? No one who risks making an illegal marketplace would take an animated cartoon seriously, whoever idea was to do this must have other reasons because no functional adult would think this intimidates anyone. My guess is marketing but I have no idea on what it could be.

Can't wait for them to take down a shooting and make a cartoon with CoD characters.

So, we're in the "cops are winning" season of the eternal whack-a-mole cycle now.

From what I understand this market had been up for years. Seems like the guys who makes it in that world are the ones who knows how to quit in time, before the cycle loops around.

being a drug kingpin looks fucking cool

I want to make my own Drugs Site and use a cool hacker name like LE CHOCOLATE

Apparently Germany and Spain did want to go as far as North America and legalize sales as wel
Interesting, just for the sake of a counter argument here I had two friends who traveled to Spain recently, not Spain nationals and they both got high as fuck on weed. They reported back that you need some sort of invite (like you would on Discord) to join a weed salon, which works like a shady private club but it's more a formality. Friend N.1 went for 3 days and managed to get high on day 2 so it doesn't seem to be too much hassle. He also reported that the weed was stronger than anything he smoked before

Nah, these are retards. They had to us an AI to generate their propaganda, and they would have just used similar jeet tactics to get the admins to Dox themselves: "Sar, I need you to come to police station with product sar! Do not redeem sar!"

I was aware both Germany and Spain were operating on a "social club" model, but my understanding is that you can't buy the weed itself, only share it with other members. Maybe Spain is a bit laxer about this, but the idea in Germany is that membership of said social clubs is only open to people who can contribute towards it (i.e cultivate their own weed). The point is that it's not as straightforward as simply being over 18/21 and walking into a store to buy it, as is the case across the pond.

Lol this reminds me of that goofy ‘Kingpin’ xanny manufacturer on Reddit that was known for bragging, and they eventually found him wearing a diamond necklace with his logo on it, after he had been beat up by some rivals. AlpraKing, was it?

Edit: Look at his goofy face

I don’t think it’s anything quite that complex

They had clearweb sites that directed users to tor mirrors, they were getting constant ddos attacks a few months ago and exposed the origin server of one of the VPS’s hosting the Clearweb site during the struggle to keep everything online

I would imagine it has something to do with that

Honestly how will this scare people off? Especially that intro portion. “Better to be someone for a day than no one for a lifetime”. You’re asking people with nothing to lose to start their own drug sites. You should be showing jail cells and drug victims. This is self promotion for Feds to stroke their own egos
It's another case of feds fundamentally misunderstanding the soul of what they're using as a flesh suit. They think they're the good guys in the propaganda piece, but Cyberpunk Edgerunners was about telling The Man to go fuck himself, even as he's putting a bullet between your eyes. The government are never the good guys in a cyberpunk setting.
