Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

Is fat acceptance still a major problem? I thought it died out along with fourth wave feminism when the Church of the Current Thing moved on to troons sometime around 2019.
No, fat acceptance is still a thing, but it's more or less in the pre-death rattle stages thanks to the vast majority of people discovering that Ozempic and its GLP-1 ilk exist (reminder that GLP-1s are not a magic weight loss drug and that they still require major diet changes and exercise to work with regards to weight), taking said injections and having a lot of comorbid issues resolve (PCOS being a big one, but also infertility, joint pain resolving from losing said weight, etc.) which makes said people realize that the whole fat positivity movement is bullshit.

What you're seeing now are the hold-ons gluttons who refuse to put the fork down and are wailing and gnashing teeth over people finally having the balls to call their movement out for what it truly is.

The Fab Fatties podcast has been mentioned a few different times in the thread, but wow, upon listening to multiple episodes, these three are definitely complete cows in more ways than one. For those who find them boring, I'll spoiler most of this post, but for those interested I'll break down each one separately. Ahead of time: apologies that these videos aren't archived as I have not noodled my way around archiving them and my computer is old and lazy.

The TL;DR of them: three fat women from the Carolinas get together to complain about problems that aren't real on a regular basis. Other posts where you can catch glimpses of them are here, here, here and here, but since I decided to go on a podcast binge, I thought I would see what the full scoop is behind these ladies. If this is late or mega autistic, that's my bad; I looked to see if anyone else had covered them in-depth and came up empty-handed, so I thought this may make a worthwhile post.

With all of that said: let's meet the Fab Fatties.

Ally is a former real estate agent turned "social media consultant" who has BPD and extremely poor impulse control when it comes to reading online hatred to the point that there are multiple episodes where she talks about it and numerous posts on her social media of her attempting to "clap back" at haters (whom she describes as angry white men who are upset that they cannot have sex with her). Though she has insane amounts of incel energy, she actually does have an unnamed boyfriend who she is notably older than* who lives in Chicago. In one episode, she claims that overhearing her ex-coworkers talk about salads was "traumatic" and actually gets emotional about it because the women in question were "thin and beautiful," crying about how much it hurt to think that they "didn't want to look like [me]."

Out of the three of them, Ally gets furious the most easily, and if there's a time to stomp one's hooves in righteous indignation, she will always find it. Though they all align as liberal politically, she's the biggest blowhard of the three, constantly spouting off nonsense about the typical Instagram liberal positions, i.e. BLM, trans rights, Free Palestine, etc. In spite of her supposed political knowledge, all she reads are smut novels (AKA porn books for housewives) and she seems to have no remotely cerebral interests otherwise.

*In one episode, I believe she implied she is about 7~ years older than her boyfriend; for reference, she is in her 30s, though I don't know her exact age. Not a really scandalous age gap, but I found it interesting that she felt it merited commentary.

Nobody is a bigger fucking crybaby than Alyssa, who works as a children's dance instructor at the Morrison Family YMCA at Ballantyne. According to her, she is recovering from a restrictive eating disorder that made doctors order her not to exercise for about 2 years; she also allegedly endures Type 3 diabetes (which Fit 'n' Full Fat did some deeper diving on, if you care to hear her insight on it. For those who want the short version: it's not quite accepted as an official diagnosis yet and is more likely to be linked to Alzheimer's). Like Ally, she also gets red-in-the-face outraged over perceived "fatphobic" slights, but is more prone to crying like a child at the drop of a hat (to which Ally and Rebecca always respond in very condescending therapyspeak in return, as this is the only language Alyssa knows).

Despite their collective fury over GLP-1s and weight loss drugs categorically, Alyssa is herself on a GLP-1, but she specifies it is to control "her sugars" rather than for weight loss and is extremely anxious about any attempt to control said sugars, even with something as simple as apps (which in #22 you can watch her actually get upset to the point of tears about having to monitor her numbers). Her dyslexia is possibly why she trips over basic words like a retard, and she is married to a firefighter named Billy who seems like a normal person, so I didn't look too deeply into him.

A senior lecturer at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Rebecca is arguably the most mature of them all, but still definitely very annoying with her very monotone and flat way of speaking. A couple of years ago, she managed to get weight loss surgery, but predictably regained (though she hasn't gotten to her original size just yet). Because of this, she has gotten fully entrenched back into fat acceptance, which isn't a great idea for someone who already admits she has issues with overspending and comfort eating - which she implies are related to her issues with expressing herself.

Rebecca is the only one of the three who seems to not be officially linked up with anyone, so she's the one that will talk about dating prospects in some episodes. Further, she tries to position herself as a figure of authority because she has been a "fatfluencer" for the longest, with a YouTube channel showcasing her at her largest going back as far as 6 years ago. Though she may be less bombastically expressive than her counterparts, Rebecca remains a very proper part of their clique in terms of being an absolute dipshit: in one episode (#14), she talks about honoring and protecting her fatness as part of her "identity" like gender, sexuality or race.

In earlier episodes, you may notice a blonde woman named Miria (pronounced Maria) present, yet she is only there for a short amount of time. So who was she, and why did she leave?

At the time of its launch, The Fab Fatties were actually The Four Fab Fatties but underwent a rebrand now that Miria has been excommunicated from the tribe. This fallout seems to have happened sometime around March 2024, and no one but Miria seems interested in explaining the behind-the-scenes of what the nature of the disbanding was (and unfortunately even Miria's post is relatively vague). Whatever took place must have been quite thunderous, as they specifically untagged Miria from all posts involving her on the official Instagram page itself, though videos featuring her remain uploaded.

This is what Miria had to say about it.

"Hi friends, It is with mixed emotions that I announce I'm no longer associated with 4 Fab Fatties or CLT Plus. Due to personal and professional differences, I've chosen to step away. I encourage each and every one of you to do what is best for your own peace and sanity. I will continue to support fat community and tell my story. I'm looking forward to doing so in a safe space where my voice and opinion is actually appreciated. I'd like to remind my fellow introverts that just because someone else's voice is louder, doesn't mean that your voice isn't worthy of being heard. Surround yourself with people who see that and appreciate you for who you are. Don't ever let someone else's insecurities take away from who you are.

That's all for now.
I'm Fat.
I'm Fab.
And I'm currently accepting Friendship applications.

XOXO,
Miria"

What will now follow is purely 100% weapons grade autistic speculation so please take it with the largest hunk of salt you can find, but I suspect Miria was driven out by Ally, who had this post to make before Miria announced her departure - note her stating that she "won't dim her light to make others shine brighter." She also had another reel that stated that "some people won't like her," and has cried in some episodes about trying to make herself more "digestible" to others.
Screenshot 2025-06-15 at 11-32-33 Instagram.webp
The reason I theorize this is because that in some episodes, Ally has apologized to Alyssa (specifically) for being toxic or mean towards her off-camera and cites that her BPD causes her to be caustic at times. Additionally, if you watch the earlier episodes with Miria, you'll notice that Ally definitely bulldozes over Miria in conversation often and seems actually pointed in some of her remarks towards her in Miria's final episode (which is #9). The interesting part? That episode was March 6, 2024... and Miria was ousted by March 20 of the same year, and by March 24, the Four Fab Fatties had rebranded to The Fab Fatties and essentially acted as if Miria had never been there at all.

There is no smoking gun here, but my guess is that loud-mouthed, aggressive Ally drove out the more soft-spoken Miria and used force of personality to ensure that she stayed and Miria left (as Miria supposedly was the one to bring them all together originally). I have no solid evidence that this is what happened, and we'll likely never know, but it's part of why I believe that not only are all three cows, but Ally may be the biggest cow of all.
Well, that was a doozy. Curious about listening? Here are episodes I personally recommend for: 1) corpulent pig-wailing about the injustice of society, 2) women with roofs over their heads, food in their bellies living in a country with clean, running water and air conditioning acting as if they are the only ones to know true misery, and 3) just gawking at how disgusting Alyssa looks, because she genuinely repulses me to stare at sometimes.

In one episode, she claims that overhearing her ex-coworkers talk about salads was "traumatic" and actually gets emotional about it because the women in question were "thin and beautiful," crying about how much it hurt to think that they "didn't want to look like [me]."
Can you imagine? You’ve found a nice salad recipe - I actually did this at work recently because I had to feed a vegan with multiple restrictions and I wanted to be nice so I asked around at work and lo! An actually decent recipe was found and I made it and thanked the colleague and someone nearby said ‘ oh that founds nice what’s the recipe!’ You know the kind of intensely dull and inane kind of chat you have at work and no1curr and the idea you’d do all that to piss off a fat co worker is BONKERS.
According to her, she is recovering from a restrictive eating disorder that made doctors order her not to exercise for about 2 years; she also allegedly endures Type 3 diabetes (which Fit 'n' Full Fat did some deeper diving on, if you care to hear her insight on it. I can’t be arsed to listen but does she mean type 3 or 3c? Type 3 IS Alzheimer’s, in a kind of abstract ‘hey maybe one cause of Alzheimer’s could be dysregulated sugars and igf1 and inflammation in the brain.’ I don’t think you’d be diagnosed with that because it’s not an actual diagnosis code and unless you’ve got Alzheimer’s what’s the point?
. There’s something often called type 3c which is diabetes secondary to damage to the pancreas which can happen various ways (cancer, haematochromatosis etc.) and that generally is ‘not their fault’ and is hard to manage.
But anyway all that’s by the by, I suspect she has type 2, from being very fat but desperately wants it to not be her fault. No icky boring t2 for her!

Alyssa claims she has Type 3 diabetes. (She discusses it in #5: Selling Out Ozempic, as she takes Ozempic "not for weight loss", and for convenience, I have timestamped when she begins talking about it). For Kiwis who don't care to listen, here is my transcription:
I am currently diabetic - however, when I was in recovery, I was actually going to the hospitalization program and people were watching me eat my meals all day. And my cholesterol, my A1C, and all my bloodwork was beautiful. But when you lose that support, I now have to figure out how to do all of that on my own. And while recovery, with my support, I was eating 100% of all my meals, meeting all the exchanges I need to to make sure it counts as a meal ... ... but because I got less consistent with my nutrition, my bloodwork started to suffer, my cholesterol went up, my A1C got a little crazy. So the type 3 diagnosis is a "right now" diagnosis. It's not a long-term diagnosis. She will not give me a long-term diagnosis 'til ... if my A1C stays elevated, when I'm hitting 100% of my meal plan.
This was the best transcription I could provide as I tried to cut out a lot of unnecessary stuff because Alyssa talks like a fucking moron. She cannot even pronounce Ozempic correctly, calling it instead Ozaympic.

If I had to wager, based on how she talks about her doctor in other episodes, her doctor is the type to mislead and coddle her into hopefully falling into a proper plan of care because she can tell Alyssa is stubborn and evangelical about her beliefs around fatness. Good luck to her doctor, because it must be difficult to listen to her talk about her atypical anorexia with a straight face.

Alyssa claims she has Type 3 diabetes
Thanks! So she’s claiming she has type 3 because she’s glommed onto this idea that some people have borked sugars even if they eat normally. Now that’s technically true, I actually know someone with this kind of thin person diabetes, but they control it with diet. Not a normal person diet, a really restrictive diet, and they’ve always been thin. If they ate what a normal non diabetic ate they’d go back to being diabetic.
So what this says to me is that in hospital she was monitored and ate properly and her sugars were normalised, and outside of that she can’t. And at some point her doc has told her an anecdote like mine above, that yeah there are some people out there who still have poor sugars even with a good diet and she’s latched o to that because it excuses her. But in reality, she is diabetic because she’s very overweight. She can’t make the mental leap that she COULD control it, she doesn’t want to deprive herself so mentally it’s easier for her to blame it on this idea of t3. Of she’s unable to get good control even on a glp1 and drugs then she’s going to kill herself

There’s an episode that someone on YouTube covered where Alyssa talks about going to a fucking dessert competition and she is soooooo proud of herself for eating as much as she wanted and took a break when she couldn’t eat more and then ate more and brought desserts home.

I somehow missed shes a fucking out of control diabetic who panics about even attempting to control her blood sugar.

I can’t imagine going to a fucking dessert competition and eating so much you needed to take a break from eating was helpful for her blood sugar….but I guess refraining from a god damn dessert competition might cause her to have a panic attack. What a fucking moron.

Edit: it wasn’t fit n full fat it was another small YouTuber https://youtu.be/EQSXluQtSMQ

I'm maybe an exception here in that I always believed significant weight loss was significantly more difficult than many people give it credit for. I have a lot of sympathy for these women, especially how society tosses them aside.

But what really pisses me off is how they then turn around and advocate for more people to join them. Eat that cake! Watch more TV! Don't worry about it! If you get sick or injured, it's because doctors don't respect you!

It's not enough for these fat fucks to say "my bad choices have put me in a really bad position". They demand other people join them.

I am very much enjoying watching these "loud and proud" fat influences suddenly drop off, one by one, as they take the gut shot. I really hope it marginalizes the fuck out of the people who decide to remain morbidly obese.

I feel like most of us do understand that significant weight loss is hard and the reason we talk about these lardasses is because of their inability to admit that eating too much is why they are fat and their desire to tell everyone else that being fat is great, healthy even.

No one wants to be fat. The fab fatties would probably love to be thin if they were told they could magically be smaller and not have to change a thing about their lives. They are lying to themselves if they said they would choose to stay fat lol

Yeah, it's so frustrating when a new "influencer" pops up and starts repeating the same tired talking points as if they're new or exciting. Welcome to the cult of making you feel good about not feeling good!

And then on top of that, yeah, I completely believe doctors brush off fat women. I believe it's brutal. The best conspiracy theories are mostly true (it's the inevitable falsehoods that get you in real trouble). For every "the doctor told me to lose weight without actually examining the issue", there are nine "the issue was that i'm fat". And that's how they suck more sick and fat people in.

I can see why it's so sticky, especially to someone who's failed at weight loss and long term diet changes.

btw we never learned the cause of death of Cat (heart) Pause

It’s why there are now literal retards like Jaimie Weisberg who are the size of a small house repeating bullshit like “all intentional weight loss is bad and an eating disorder” and telling people that their health issues have NOTHING to do with being 500 lbs overweight and is instead fAtPhObIa (not out of control diabetes or inability to breathe well bc their organs are being choked by fat) that kills fat people.

I'd love to know what's going on in her head. Deep insecurity and a need to lash out. Victim complex. Body shaming thinner people. Very much a mindset of "i would have no problems if everyone was my weight".

All I hear when they talk is a guy explaining why he keeps a flask in his jacket all day at work and why it's totally healthy and normal and he's so in control,

Even more horrifying is Jaimie is most certainly fatter now than when this pic was taken.

If Miria ended up dropping the weight (and HAES nonsense)…

Living actually well is the best revenge Miria.
Lol right? If Miria lost weight it would make the other “fab” fatties apoplectic

a fucking dessert competition and she is soooooo proud of herself for eating as much as she wanted and took a break when she couldn’t eat more and then ate more and brought desserts home.
A dessert competition is one of those things you’d make a joke about needing to be rolled home from but in reality, it wouldn’t be a lot of fun. You’d probably feel a bit queasy after a while. I’d certainly bring a few samples home for everyone, but I don’t think many people can eat and eat like that because it’s sweet - you’d feel really sick after a short time
I'm maybe an exception here in that I always believed significant weight loss was significantly more difficult than many people give it credit for. I have a lot of sympathy for these women, especially how society tosses them aside.
I think is is difficult and I would bet most people here acknowledge its tough as well. Losing weight is one of those those things that’s a paradox. It’s simple, but not always easy. Simple - just eat less, but not always easy. Climbing a mountain is simple, just go up. But not easy
If it was easy we’d have very few people who were significantly overweight.
I have plenty of sympathy for anyone struggling to lose weight, feeling down about it etc. We should have good help for those people, to support them and help them and we should take a hard look at our modern lifestyles and think about why we shove people in front of desks all day and don’t walk or move and the mental and physical consequences of that
I just have no sympathy whatsoever for those who fetishise it, glorify it, and encourage others to engage in it.
