Military wise it would actually be easier if there were a similar victory condition. Gulf War 1 was very simple, Saddam was in Kuwait, the goal was to get him out. We destroyed his forces in Kuwait and the rest fled, mission accomplished.
Iran's military is much smaller than Saddam's was in the 90s, about half the size. They have more advanced ships and more advanced jets, but way fewer than Iraq did, and both Naval and Air force are areas where the US can literally achieve a perfect kill ratio so you don't have to die for Israel.
They have far weaker ground forces and likely less militia networks though that's hard to gauge.
There is also an experience gap, in the 90s the Iraqi military was actually quite battle hardened after wars with Iran, Israel, and others, 2025 Iranian forces haven't really done anything in notable 30 years.
The problem as usual comes from victory conditions. If there's even a neuron of thought dedicated to the idea of nation building then it's over, the muslim world has only gotten better at figuring out how to undermine any attempt at being dragged into the 12th century or beyond. If the goal is simply to fuck their ability to do damage that would be relatively easy and likely wouldn't require an invasion.
As usual, it all comes down to how nice we want to play.
