Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Fire Emblem Engage is superior to Fire Emblem Three Houses (ignore the irony of my avatar). Monster Hunter Rise is superior to Monster Hunter World.
Monster Hunter Rise is my first and so far my only MH game, i fucking love it so far and i havent even touched the expansion yet. One time i went online to read up on where to gather certain mats i needed and apparently the game has a generally negative reception, something about how it "doesn't even get good" until you reach Sunbreak. Hell, i kept reading about how i shouldn't get used to Rise because the other games are so much more different or something as well

Stuff like that makes me not wanna try the rest of the games tbh

Rise is very much a more “arcadey” style of game than most of the others. World is intended as a big cinematic AAA game with a focus on exploring the environment, and most of the pre-world games have basically negative QoL and are designed to be punishing. Can’t comment on where Wilds falls because I haven’t played it yet. Rise is very much a “go in, hit the monster, feel cool doing it” sort of game, very punchy and fast-paced.

If you like Rise I would recommend Generations Ultimate on Switch. Monster Hunter has two main development teams, the “main” team which made World, Wilds, and all the numbered entries from previous gens, and the “portable” team which made Rise. (Don’t take the names too seriously, 4U was made by the “main” team and is exclusive to the 3DS.) GU was made by the “portable” team and has a number of seeds being planted for the flashier super moves that Rise had, and has about 90% of the monsters that had been introduced in the series up until that point. It’ll be a good gameplay into the quirks and anti-QoL features of fourth gen and older.

Playing a god like character that lifts mountains and jumps large distances, and suddenly you get stopped by a small wooden gate because you haven't found the key yet. So infuriating.
And open world game players will know this one too

I pirate games because they're not worth the asking price. Those that are I will pay for and their sequels too.
The other reason is because there are no fucking demos anymore. There are cool looking games that turn out shit and shit looking games that turn out to be cool. I want to find the hidden gems, but I'm not paying 60 quid a throw to do so.

Buying the latest FIFA(TM) or Pro Evolution Soccer(TM) or Football Manager(TM) for the Playstation(R) on release is a clear telltale of a nigger to me
Or the latest Call of Duty(TM) or Battlefield(TM)
Two nogs don't make a white. Stealing a nigger game just makes you a coal-black gorilla nigger.

Trial & error is good game design.
I can't think of worse game design.

Trial and error is the greatest game design. Wondering what happens next is the human experience, it's what makes the software a game for thinking humans. Twitch games are for kids and Koreans, and optimization problems are for computers.

You can totally write a nice lengthy review of a game with less than 2 hours of playtime. If you've played video games enough for years or even a few months, it is easy to get a good feel of everything the next video game has to offer you based on previous experiences of another. People like to really throw down this "you can't judge a book by its cover" argument against you. I say that's a trap of an argument because that is again someone wanting you to waste your time and money to enjoy something you may not like and fail their expectations.

I've written game reviews on games I've played about 10 minutes at least and 30 minutes to an hour at most before jotting my experiences on it. A game's job is to entertain you or immerse you into its world for enjoyment while making sure the amount you've spent was worth it. If it fails in one or more of those departments, then you let it be known what it failed in, regardless of degree. Writing video game reviews is honestly a dying art because people are too busy trying to be the next AVGN or the next Yahtzee in game reviewing.

As long as it is anything beyond "it sucks" or "it rules" then it is good. You do not always need to play hours and hours of a game before that moment of "this is when it starts getting good" or "this is when it starts getting bad" hits. If a game is doing nothing for you at all AAA, AA or Indie, write a review on it and move on.

Love me some Viva Piñata. It's absurd they never put it in modern consoles. It'd be cool if it was put on other consoles now that Xbox is putting games on stuff now.
It’s backward compatibility with modern Xboxes. Does that count?

That’s where I’m at for emulation. I don’t care your reasons for emulation. There’s a purpose from it of preservation.
