See, this is why I was saying before that I'm not a big fan of trying to attribute his behaviour to any particular diagnosis. To me it's almost like giving him an excuse for this kind of shit. And you know he'd fucking lean into those excuses when it suits him, he's very much the type to weaponise his own mental health against the people around him, hell he weaponises other peoples mental health against them all the time, so I just refuse to acknowledge those weapons in their entirety, i'm not playing that game.

Another problem Nick has, is the same problem DSP had, a number of Millenials had, and most of us grew out of before it was too late; and that's wanting to be "The Bad Guy." I don't think BPD is so much a diagnosis as it is a cluster of personality traits. Back in the day, we'd just call it being an utter cunt. It's not that somebody is mentally unwell, they just have unpleasant and unlikeable personality characteristics. Quite often, they can conceal how unpleasant they are until you've been sucked in to a relationship with them.

It used to be that they said it was an untreatable condition. These days, they've modified that and say that cognitive behaviour therapy can produce some improvement but the chances are pretty fucking slim. As with most of these things, you've really got to want to be a different person and your personality traits mitigate against that -- BPD's think the problem lies with other people, not with them.

But all of this is really just a roundabout way of agreeing with you. It's not an illness, just a cluster of personality traits. In the past, evil would be a more common way of describing people who had those features.
