Yes, but the original tweeter is a famous libertarian who is whining about tariffs because someone has to pay more to import a item that doesn't have a domestic alternative purely due to foreign protectionist laws that the US has agreed to enforce.
A true libertarian would be in favor of a hypermassive country wide corporation (goverment) using its own privately funded military, security force, and so on to prevent other companies from importing things.

It's all part of the game right?

Yeah I realize that argument has no legs even rhetorically but I'm really tired of these motherfuckers who are only in support of libertarianism when it lets them fuck their fellow countrymen in the ass and seething when said countrymen use it to fuck them right back.

There Are Nearly 15 Million Vacant Homes in America

Most of the public land being proposed for sale is unliveable. And probably will be bought up by large developers so your average person will not see any benefit from it.
Doesn't sound like a lot to me. Especially in my state. This is spread out across America. What asking price nigger?

Also unlivable land? You underestimate modern construction equipment and human tenacity. I've seen houses built on the side of mountains. It can be done

Strictly speaking outside of truly extreme environs like death valley no land in America is truly 'unlivable' but are rather inhospitable, which is just to say 'you can live here but not comfortably or without struggle'

This is especially true if all you require is a rentable climate controlled box with a garage to store the other rentable climate controlled box that shuttles you from bed to work and back again

It's vital to maintain as much wilderness as untouched as possible. We don't need to develop that land, we need retard boomers in local governments to die off and for less retarded gen x people to run for local office and get the evil gen x people to stop doing venial deals with developers that don't benefit anybody.

There is zero reason to do anything else. The US is not crowded, there is tons of space and underutilized real estate within current settled areas. This is entirely a self-goverment problem as in nobody is doing any.

When I have lived here most of my life and can't afford a proper house, that is a problem. Humans need habitat too. And if people won't stop coming, we need more houses. That simple.

no one cares about your dumb utah problems

the feds have to control your state because mormons are a permanent direct threat to the federal government

move someplace else, stop whining

Small numbers of people.

Trump removing that water was a calculated gamble. It's a gamble that imo was worth it as the city was on fire, but it's not like there was an infinite water tap and Trump walked up to it, shrugged, and turned it on, thus cutting the Gordian Knot. If California has a drought year, that decision will have catastrophic consequences. The reservoirs fill when rain is heavy and that water needs to be held for times when water is scarce. It is a limited supply.

I think it would be the height of idiocy to fuel a population boom in the West by sourcing water from a foreign country. You're putting a gun to your head and giving them control of the trigger. One of the big things that the US has going for it is the capacity for self-sufficiency.
If money was no object, then the government should build a pipeline from the Mississippi to Colorado rivers. It would be an engineering miracle to pump millions of gallons across hundreds of miles and up thousands of feet. There was a proposal called the North American Water and power alliance in the 50s to link all the water together

To think we could have had that instead of the welfare state...

I thought we were all glowies. The contridictions are insane. And clearly Trump disagrees.

this is the kind of 50s technocratic hubris that we should have been cured of, but commies corrupted environmentalism

I'd argue that the best way to fix this is to have someone nut up and address the immigration issues.

“What we’re forgetting is that anyone who doesn’t want to go to war is gay!”
:lunacy:
The "TACO" deal is one of the lamest attacks they've cooked up with Trump because it's not as though they like whatever he's supposedly getting cold feet on and, most importantly, they never have an alternative to present. That's what killing the Democrats the most with everyone - all they've got is increasingly impotent rage and no solutions to present except "let's just keep doing the things everyone hates".

the way you fix this is you grind until you have a down payment, then you live in a shitbox that you fix up, then you sell the shitbox for at least three times what you paid for it

your life sucks for a few years but then it takes off exponentially

people who are sitting in booming real estate markets who can do nothing but whine about how they can't afford a house are sad whiners who can't manage their own lives. one of the biggest regrets I have in my life is being snookered by people like this when I was a young woman in CA in the 90s. If I had followed my instincts and bought shitboxes I would be even richer today than I am! more importantly if more people had done this back in the day instead of falling for whiny bullshit we would have all have had a shot at turning things around.

Owning property is the basis for everything, you do not matter if you don't own property. If you really can't manage it go somewhere else, but you probably can manage it.
