I still recommend it if you're looking for people with niche interests. You don't even have to git gud really. Just rock up at a local & hunt for a setup in the corner with the most regular-looking dudes -- you'll know you've struck gold if they don't hang out exclusively with other Smash players and admit to barely playing the game outside of tournaments. There'll be trannies everywhere, but it's not as if they pose a threat to you. Exchange contacts with anyone you like and meet up later.

All of the most based friends I have are guys I met through Melee (and FGC stuff more broadly). 9 times out of 10, anyone who isn't actively trooning or a central member of the scene is secretly ultrapeaked about this stuff.

Had similar experiences, most of the people who play melee rather than pretend to just to fit into this internet cult are just people who want to play but are sick of the faggotry that infests places that talk about it.

So when Hax passed away, HBox went on this huge spiel about how he wants to try and prevent this in the future. So he promised to stop being a "pussy" and he would try and mediate other situations like this.

While I agree Hbox not mediating was a total pussy move Mekk did it to himself in a lot of ways. If you look through the sperg out he had on his twitter after his ban you'd see how big of a hole he dug for himself. He would post the most cringey right ring tourette's shit non-stop and would clown on himself doing it. Even when people told him to chill out or not post about girl dick for two seconds he wouldn't listen because he wanted to listen his groyper yes-men.

In news that should be surprising to no one, another pedophile allegation has hit the Smash Community.

On June 10, 2025 CollieCell (a troon who plays in Smash Bros. Ultimate and age 14, supposedly) dropped a Google Doc accusing Lumikade (age 20, supposedly and pansexual) of manipulating him with abusive RP :3. In his document, Collie shows messages where Lumikade would write him things "bites your thigh" and things of the like and a message where Lumikade recognizes that Collie is a minor and that the nature of the conversations they were having is inappropriate.

Not to be outdone, Lumikade dropped his own response in a Google Doc which boils down to the following.
  1. He's not a pedophile
  2. He recognizes that the conversation he had with Collie were wrong
  3. He shows that Collie would pester him a lot
  4. He "clears up" the message about asking Collie to not post about him
  5. Says that many of the abusive RP messages were to placate Collie as the tranny was very clingy and would threaten self harm
    1. "Muh Sleepy messages"
  6. Admits he should have stopped talking to Collie because Collie is mentally unstable (I guess the trooning out at 14 didn't clue him in on that one)
  7. Says that Collie ran gay ops on him by getting him to send Collie "abusive RP :3" messages which Collie would screencap to make him look bad.
Now Lumikade has left the Smash scene voluntarily after some discussion on him being banned and people are telling Collie to get off Xitter.
