We have peaceful relations with a list of Sunni Muslim countries and Arab and Sunni culture is arguably less compatible with Western Europe and American cultures than Persians and Shia. Wahabists are Sunni, Pakistanis are Sunni. If this were really your motivation you would be starting with Saudi and Oman and Pakistan, etc. Countries which are overwhelmingly Islamic and have much more interflow with the West than Persians. Israel has had a more aggressive policy than Iran. It's engaged in wars with nearly every neighbour it has and if called on it, declares it was "defensive" or "pre-emptive". If I suddenly appear in your house one day and punch you when you try to evict me, I don't get to go wringing my hands saying "it was self-defence". And if I'm armed to the teeth and start the fight shouting "pre-emptive! pre-emptive!" doesn't make me not the aggressor.
