If anything Toriel's smothering behavior reads way too accurately to parents I've encountered who actually act like that. It always made me wonder if Toby's mom or one of his friends' parents growing up was like that, as one of the kids I hung out with gradeschool had a helicopter mom who was incredibly clingy in the same ways (memorably she wouldn't let the kid watch the first Addams Family movie because it was PG rated instead of G; we were like 9-10 at the time).

It all stems from toby fox making toy story sentence mix shitposts a few years ago, but this one specifically.

There were also many other references to cowboys and shit even in the spamton charity sweepstakes thing, and chapter 3 cut the minigame cowboy segment that was building to, as well as a joke bit of dialogue about "asgores favorite cowboy puppet show being cancelled" being in that cut segment. You can access the cut segment by messing with files and shit but yeah that's not what the theory was. the theory was he was gonna be the chapter 3 boss.

Nowadays parents got way more shit to watch out for at home, in schools and on the internet.
