Concordia has broken down. When there is no in-group loyalty or trust no system of laws will function, no matter how inspired.
Sulla believed if he got rid of all the corruption everything would go back to the way it was.
No such luck though, Rome had permanently changed. Such a civilization can only be ruled by manipulation or force. Ultimately it came down to force.
I think Trump and his crew (esp Bannon) believed the same thing. I think Tump I attempted to be mostly legal and above-board, and it got completely crushed. Trump II is
MUCH more manipulative, and it's doing much better. When it's all over though, if it is over, that's how they will rule. They'll have to, or the swamp will come right back.
It's a good think I agree with most of his goals, because his technique is terrifyingly effective.
