Animal Rescue Megathread - Sharing the good rescues and documenting the bad "rescues"

I saw the youtube upload and don't know what the holy hell to think. It's a very sad but bizarre video.

Currently archiving.
Bizarre is the right word. So, as I understand it, it turns out she had BPD and was severely autistic, and killed herself because of mean comments. She didn’t strike me as that sort of person.

Also, while I understand that her husband is going through the darkest period of his life, and I am genuinely sorry for him and their daughter, he should not have made this video.

Ghost Archive is being a pain in the ass and honestly it's too sad of a situation to worry about that sort of thing. BPD is a hell of a drug.
Immediately went here to see if she had a thread because this suicide looks so out of place. I used to follow her youtube channel years ago then forgot about it but I could never imagine this happening, I feel sorry for her kid, husband, the foxes... My friends and other comments online are just being angry at the invisible mean internet people who drove her to this but I can't find anything, she must have had a severe case of BPD.

There were allegations that Save A Fox was an amateur hour animal hoarding situation more than a rescue, but that was several years ago and I don't think anything ever came of it.

I did a little poking around and apparently there was an r/saveafoxsnark reddit, which has been set to private for obvious reasons. In the video the guy mentions that it was people that she knew that were fucking with her. There's something to this, hag business. Animal people can be pretty fucking crazy and if you're trying to help and sometimes you need to know when to keep them at arm's length. A staunch "Fuck off" becomes necessary. Having BPD might make that impossible.

In any case this is very sad and Cloudflare should 100% drop reddit's DDOS protection because it endangers people.

Apparently there's a snark subreddit about the channel, its private however

Bizarre is the right word.
You know... it's bizarre enough where I'm not ruling out a JFG scenario...

The start seems pretty god damn genuine but as it goes on I start to wonder. Listing her mental problems, blaming people close to her, specifically stating she'd forgo showering. Seems kind of strange of you ask me. People say a lot of weird stuff while they're grieving but it's still odd. What I wouldn't give to see that subreddit.

The reaction is kind of incredible: just wholesale swallowing everything the husband says, some people going so far as to say the bullies responsible should be arrested. The only place I'm seeing much skepticism is right here, although to be fair I haven't poked around that much.

I want to see the so-called bullying, and I'm really curious to see what possibly uncomfortable facts about Mikayla, her husband, and Save A Fox might be emerging in the coming weeks.

EDIT: Apparently a lot of this was going down on Tumblr, which I have no idea how to navigate and which I'm not signing up for just to explore this particular rabbit hole. (Foxhole?) If you kill yourself over something on Tumblr it's more like natural selection.

EDIT x2: This is just plain weird. The husband was posting funny "being married to animal lover is cuh-RAZY!" videos on Facebook yesterday, which means he must have recorded this within hours of Mikayla dying.

That's weird too, it's a facebook upload as well. I don't know if it was recorded yesterday though, could just be an upload but if she died two days ago why do anything? That being said if he was dealing with someone with BPD this guy might have been put through the ringer and didn't know what else to do, people like that can get you in a haze.

Man, it'd be wild if he killed her and this is a coverup job

he should not have made this video.
Yeah, no shit. He should not have made this video. He’s effectively admitted that yes, the trolls have succeeded. A video like this should’ve waited at least a month until he can keep himself composed and try to focus more on the charity versus the fact that what you assholes (Redditors) have done has worked.

Sad that, this poor woman, for all her effort, was bullied into what she did, meanwhile, fuckers like Jason “maldavius figtree” Thorhall get away with less then ideal treatment of their shelter animals.

Ah snark subreddits are never a good thing, that might be where the source of the bullying comes from.

I wonder if she vented about her life in some videos, I haven't watched her content in so long and all I had seen were cute videos of her foxes being pet or taken care of but trauma dumping on social media is something these people tend to slowly do once they get famous through their rescue programs or pets.

Yeah when news like this come out you'll look like a jackass if you are open about being skeptic over the suicide of a well liked person. Over here we all know there can be more to the story so I'm really curious about what type of bullying was done, it's hard to believe people can kill themselves over one mean comment out of 100 praises but it's different for the mentally ill.

>I didn’t feel guilt for it
>actually I did totally did feel guilt but only until you told me to 41% now I don’t
>actually by blaming me for her death you acknowledge her letting foxes die from preventable causes
>how would YOU feel if I killed my self because of YOU (ignoring that they admitted to not feeling guilty)
The narcissist prayer played out in their posts so perfectly it almost seems ironic

That video in question is him coming home to her having "rescued" and bought some new and expensive cages for a fucking lemur.

>Gets lemur
>Kills self
>Refuses to elaborate

What an incredible way to go out.

Like a lot of exotic rescues, they always kinda rode a fine line between being a fox rescue and being the project of crazy people who just want a million pet foxes and will do whatever it legally takes. However the tipping point in my mind is usually reproduction [without the goal of reintroduction to the wild], and afaik she never bred foxes.

Posting a sob video to the main channel and explicitly saying you don't have permission from the board is such a bad move. It starts slowly and will probably be nothing but that's how you cause weird legal issues for your company/foundation. It would have been a lot better to wait a little bit until the tears dried up and make some sort of "so sad, let's fundraise in her honor" without blaming people. It's rough but talking any how "this person killed themself because of allegations against them/what people were saying" generally makes people assume those things were at least a little true. As part of an organization, you should really never publically say "Someone in our organization killed herself because people said this place is wrong/our actions are unethical". Should just say "mental health struggles"/autism/etc and talk about how foxes are better than people or something.

I don't think he went this far, but if he did, say, directly name and blame that furry tranny for the suicide, it could cause a lot of legal trouble for SaveaFox, not just himself. Even saying "these groups of people" "close friends" is way too much.

I am interested to know the method of suicide and if any more info comes out about what exactly she killed herself over. It's unsettling that the husband was seemingly unbothered/posting normally online so close to her death.... With the mention of trying many medications and BPD, I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of those cases that put the black box labels on many medications. Sometimes with combo of emotional instability and depression, an anti-depressant medication is just the right thing to give a depressed person the motivation and inspiration.... to finally act out on impulses of self-harm or suicide. And BPD people often don't take meds correctly, taking too much or skipping doses or going cold turkey, all things that can also cause very wild episodes.
I don't actually think internet criticism can cause people to kill themselves. Even if the content was theoretically so upsetting it would induce suicidality in the average man, "nigga close your eyes" as they say. So the other factors involved are more interesting to me.

Final weird comment. I promise I'm not that big on face analysis, but I feel like I keep catching the ol "duping delight" on this guy's face. You feel at any moment he could break character and start laughing. When he breaks to sob he almost seems to smirk, many times over. But honestly I think it's more about him perhaps hoping that his enemies will be destroyed "those 'close friends' need to know that they killed her!" or feeling like "they'll never be able to make those valid criticisms of us again, now that she killed herself over them", who knows. People have complicated reactions to suicide.

I found an angry taxidermists hate folder about her. Most of the things that he accuses her of are not true or unverifiable like spending Dono money on tattoos, but there is some weirdness there. She doesn't announce dead and escaped foxes. Some leaked messages, also pictures of a dead fox which are real just as a warning. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-g_CHd4hp7iJmIwzH_TU3jXMnZfj-2QQ?usp=drive_link
a lot of nothing burgers but I haven't really gone through a lot of it.

I personally just think he's developed a weird vocal tick from marrying a nightmare animal crazy lady who wants to be seen with foxes at all times, and so he has learned to compose his voice very quickly and the grief beats it out of him. The lemur was scheduled to post thats why its on facebook and not youtube.
