Kuvira is literally a warlord, if you don't think its okay for random people to try and take over the world, than the bitch did something wrong. However, I can at least sympathize with this choice, as I appreciated watching Kuvira beat the shit out of Korra.

Kreia is a crazy old nihilistic sociopath whose grand design might very well kill literally everyone. At least this take isn't unique to Lily, plenty of people give Kreia way too much credit because the story often bends itself over backwards to try and prove her point.

Reva is a Jedi padawan who survived order 66, and to get revenge on Anakin joined his team of inquisitors, doing Anakin's will for years, hunting down her fellow Jedi. How this gets revenge on Anakin when you're basically working for the guy, is beyond me. When she finally tried to turn on Vader, he beat the shit out of her. She also kidnapped and was willing to torture Leia, who was about 10 years old at the time. She also went to hunt down Luke, but was stopped by Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru (I guess all those years being trained by the Jedi and inquisition pale before the might of two middle aged farmers). She is by any definition a complete scumbag, and the fact that Obi Wan didn't kill her was a massive failing on his part.

PRetty much yeah. Sylvanas deserves all the scorn she got given she became someone so hateable that it became hard to justify her actions since the writers removed all greyness from them, and made the alliance more sympathetic. But then again, asking Peet to stop thinking with their dick is a big ask at this point.

The funny thing is Sylvanas herself would hate Peet and not even humor the thought of Acknowledging that piece of shit

Frustratingly Slvanas has awesome villain energy. A tragic backstory twisted into a progressively more desperate, deranged, and bloodthirsty quest for a revenge she can never have with the added horror twist of using the undead to force her former enemies under her thrall to kill their own comrades.

I know it goes hard off the rails from there but what a great setup. I love it as a character concept.

And then folks like Lily see 'tragic backstory + kinda hot' and can't divorce enjoying a concept from advocating for everything the character does. It was either all justifiable, or else the writer's fault for... being misogynists...? You saw the same thing with Snape once Rickman started playing him; brooding loner bully magnet plus kinda hot but in a sneering British way means Rowling only wrote Snape this way because James Potter was based on her abusive ex-husband and he's really sweet (if you ignore everything about him). Just suck all the fun out of the character because you don't actually like them, you like the IDEA of them.

Very funny how Lily hates redemption arcs but her own Horde Champion story basically had Anevay's love for Sylvanas either recontextualixe or somehow stop all of her worst atrocities (I think she said Anevay would prevent the burning of the tree? In fairness that's still Sylvanas ordering it but because she didn't succeed I guess it's okay now).

That was her excuse in the Writing Tips thread, too. People with a quintuple-digit body count are irredeemable. Except Sylvanas, because it's the writer's fault, and I can fix her (by making everybody else a rapist so she looks better by comparison).

This may be the first and only time I'll sorta agree with Liliana in something without any caveat. Suggesting that people should protograph others in the bathroom, especially when the implication is that their genitalia will be a major focus, is textual creep behavior and worrisome that a person with a platform so big would ever promote the idea that doing so is a good thing. If a man was around suggesting we should take pictures of women in bathroom, but it's for their own good so it's okay, everyone would rightfully call it out as a insane gooner lost in the wild. But since it comes from a woman with social capital behind, it's something we have to take seriously.

Having said that, Liliana, as always, has to ruin a perfectly good and reasonable point she made by making it violent. Because in a state that was dumb enough to legislate that some women could not enter the bathroom, where cis women or "biological women", whatever term you prefer, have already been beaten up, harassed, threatened and put under the risk of arrest because they looked too "manly" for someone, sure, beat someone up! That is not an quick escalation of an already bad situation that could end up putting people at more risk!

This is not to say that nothing should be done because, once again, taking pictures of people in bathroom is creep behavior. People should absolutely report those creeps, bring in peope for some good old public shaming, dennounce them if authorities are available or worth it because I'm 40% sure that at least in some places, that is actually illegal. EDIT: A little less cavalier, but also, of the characters in that list that I'm familiar with... they're tried to be good people afterward. They tried to heal.

Sylvanas represents everything Lily wants-- permanent excuses, perpetual victim hood, the right to do evil with a clear conscience because nothing is ever her fault. Sylvanas always blames Arthas for what happened, always pursues an impossible vengeance, always acts for herself and uses what was done to her as an excuse. Lily relates to that.

This is probably THE core of why she turned on Christie Golden trying to humanized Sylvanas and make her confront her actions in the WoW novels. Somebody finally made Sylvanas look at herself instead of letting her blame others, and Lily didn't like being told that maybe her wife-- and by extension, her self -- is at fault for her own actions.

A part of character design I'm starting to loathe is when a character acts like a complete cunt, and then the writer drops their backstory on you as if they're trying to make you feel guilty for disliking their cunty behavior.


But it never works unless you already liked the character.
