It doesn't take a week to count ballots.
This is correct. I was the (contracted) company technician on-site for [brand of voting machines] at [a county in America] for the 2008 election. We tallied a total of about 100k votes. Dead simple. When the precincts closed, the machines dialed in by phone to a pool of modems, did a encryption handshake, and transmitted their counts to the server. I ran that server and supervised the rest of the process.

About ten precincts (out of almost a hundred) had machines that couldn't make the phone call, so the data cards were driven by hand in sealed plastic bags by poll workers (always in pairs) and hand-delivered to me to be fed into the voting machine in the server room, and then that machine transmitted its total to the server. I fed the cards in sequence, and someone else observed and started the transmission for me when I was done (again, always working in pairs).

While this was happening we also handled unscannable ballots (ones that had genuinely confusing markings or other defects) and decided whether to accept or spoil them (no, this wasn't the hanging chads thing). That was done by a committee (they asked me to participate as well), in front of the press, on the record, with audio/video for public scrutiny. Took us about 20 minutes to go through about 50 ballots (most were simple "didn't fill the oval" or "circled the oval instead of filling it in" mistakes where the vote intention was clear).

All of this was supervised by democrat and republican observers and regular office staff. Nobody was allowed in the server room by themselves -- it always had to be two people. The press watched (and recorded) us through a long window on one side. I refused to touch the server console unless I was being watched by someone physically in the room with me.

With all of that going on, I handed the press representative a USB stick every 20 minutes with the current tally (so they could do their numbers game), and we delivered and certified the final count 3 hours after the polls closed. There were no objections from any observers or office staff, and it was a clean result that was never challenged or disputed.

Three fucking hours to tally 100k+ votes, deal with ballots filled out by idiots, glitchy machines that couldn't phone home, and more scrutiny than a thesis examination, doing it all by-the-book and getting it right on the first try. We were among the first counties to report final numbers that night. The county voted for McCain, so there were some really bummed people in the office when the election was called for Obama.

It's not a cakewalk to get it right, but when you're being honest, transparent, and know your job role well, it certainly looks easy. And it leaves no room for doubt.

This "it takes a week, lol" thing is bullshit. They're rigging it somehow.

by love I mean confusion beyond the capacity for rational thought.
It is simple, voters just see the (D) or (R) and that's all they need. Who cares of they guy has tons if baggage and questionable loyalty, it is not our place to judge and we can't let the (R)s win.

I'd swear Trump said "oh fuck" on camera before some big Covid speech five years ago. I remember there being some fake histrionics over it back then.

And I know he said "Fuck him," while giving an interview about Netanyahu after he congratulated Biden over the stolen election.

Anyway, all this fake "decorum" bullshit was thrown out when Bill Clinton face fucked Jake Tapper's girlfriend in the Oval Office, thirty odd years ago. I remember the teacher having to explain what oral sex was back in elementary school, because it kept being talked about in the news all day for a year and kids kept joking about it.

Breaking: Not only is Trump sick of Israel and Iran and their endless bickering, but he's put all of you faggots on notice and declared a ceasefire between A&N and HHH.

Good thing Trump stepped in, because you retards were making me long for a heartfelt discussion on Mexican retreads.

Homo hulk promised he wouldn't come back here after the election. He's pretty much committing a war crime.

He was not a commie.

He was neither. He was an old-school Protestant whose mindset came from the 1860s abolitionist era. If you looked at that version of Christianity, it had a lot of things in common with MLK Jr.'s message.

Dr. King was a communist. They got to him via segregation being forbidden under communism, which was bait he couldn’t resist. That’s one of the methods commies use in the US to spread: using racism and its effects to convince people that suffer to join the cause.

Democrats fume at "unserious" Trump impeachment vote

House Democrats privately vented their fury Tuesday about what they said is a "premature" and "unhelpful" vote on impeaching President Trump for his strikes on Iran.

Why it matters: Impeachment has dogged Democrats since Trump came back into office, with Tuesday's vote finally forcing them to go on the record after half a year of internal turmoil.
  • The outcome: 128 Democrats sided with House Republicans to block Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) from bringing a Trump impeachment vote, including most of Democratic leadership.
  • Just 79 House Democrats — mostly progressives in safe districts — stood with Green on trying to force the vote.
What we're hearing: "A completely unserious and selfish move," one House Democrat told Axios on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly about a colleague.
  • Another House Democrat said there is "a lot" of anger about the vote — adding, "I think you heard it from leadership today, they're frustrated."
  • "Most people think it's unhelpful," a third House Democrat told Axios.
  • Several lawmakers noted that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) voted against the resolution, as did House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
State of play: Green forced a sudden vote on impeaching Trump for ordering strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran over the weekend without getting authorization from Congress.
  • The unilateral strikes have been a major source of tension between congressional Democrats and the administration, though only a handful — including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) — have said they constitute grounds for impeachment.
  • Green's five-page measure argued that Trump "disregarded the doctrine of separation of powers by usurping Congress's power to declare war."
The other side: Green told Axios in an interview he doesn't have "one scintilla of regret" about forcing the vote, adding that it "does not in any way cause me any degree of consternation to be criticized."

  • "I respect people have opinions that differ with my opinion," he added.
  • Green said the vote was a matter of "conscience," adding, "Do we really want to give this president the power to take over 300 million people to war without consulting with Congress?"
Between the lines: Many Democrats groaned that the vote forces them to choose between grassroots activists clamoring for impeachment and the broader, more moderate electorate.
  • "It puts people in a difficult situation," a fourth House Democrat told Axios.
  • A fifth fumed: "There are a lot of other things we should be focused on right now."
Zoom in: Many lawmakers also argued that Green's measure was weak on its merits — even more so than the articles of impeachment Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) nearly forced to a vote in May, to the fury of his colleagues.
  • "What a message to China and Russia — after we take military action, we try to impeach the president," said Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.).
  • A sixth House Democrat said they were "not even clear the courts would uphold" the impeachment, noting that the debate over constitutional war powers is "fiercely contested."
  • "This kind of motion is premature ... I just don't think it's ripe," said a seventh.
Yes, but: Others said it was easy for them to vote with Green to force an impeachment vote.
  • "My constituents have been calling for articles of impeachment knowing we don't have the votes to pass them," said Rep. Emily Randall (D-Wash.), adding that "part of our job is to put things on the record."
  • Thanedar said simply: "This president should be impeached."

There are barely any Americans in New York City:
New York City has the largest European and non-Hispanic white population of any American city, numbering 2.7 million in 2012. The European diaspora residing in the city is very diverse and many European ethnic groups have formed enclaves. With 960,000 Jewish inhabitants as of 2023, New York City is home to the highest Jewish population of any city in the world, and its metropolitan area concentrated over 2 million Jews as of 2021, the second largest Jewish population worldwide after the Tel Aviv metropolitan area in Israel. In the borough of Brooklyn, an estimated one in four residents was Jewish as of 2018.
Are the jews included in the mixed race percentage? [bc they weren't in the chart]

Honestly I think spontaneous brawls would do wonders in removing the dinosaurs from Congress, you think Bernie or Pelosi can survive in one of these? One push and it's all over.

MEMRI TV is Likud propaganda, but I wholeheartedly believe that it did more good in the world because now we've exposed ourselves to the wonders of news anchors, politicians, and religious figures all engaging in a bloodbath with shoes, flipping tables, the whole nine yards.

Why are you negroes talking about some shit poster with hulk Hogan as an avatar, talk about something normal like how the Persians and the fucking Jews almost started another desert war that the US was inevitably going to get dragged into and if the current ceasefire will hold for more than 5 days before the Israeli volk or the Iranian fanatics decide to go at it again.

Of course the queer liberal "Fuck H8" campaign from a couple years back that was marketed to and with kids was a-okay.

gave me a great reaction video tho
I completely missed this one.

Do we have a thread on it? I'm kind of scared to go rooting around in Queer Internet for Fuck H8 (as the kids and the swearing are setting off my "Author's Barely Disguised Fetish" radar, and I assume everyone involved in this campaign is on some kind of list), so a good quick summary of the drama, and subsequent arrests, would be appreciated!
