Figured I do a little bit of dirty work. I do recommend a bit more of a background check. There's no reason to believe the rescue is malicious or fraudulent, but it doesn't hurt to investigate something before sending them money.

It seems they take a variety of donations. PayPal, Amazon wishlist, drop-off (only applies to the Snow Mexicans in the thread). You can even sponsor the name of the cat! Now that one has a lot of potential IMO.
One thing that did catch my eye:

Assuming Smokeygate is real and Chantal tried to pawn him off via email, FFG should donate a car (or the monetary equivalent) to the rescue. Regardless if she ends up adopting Smokey or not, only good can come from that. Good karma and making Chantal BIG MAD are just cherries on top.

I'm a crazy cat lady and a member of more than one cat rescue/fostering organization.
I find it VERY weird that the Furry Tales lady included a screenshot of Chantal's email. The ones I'm involved with would never do that. They'd respect everyone's privacy.
Could be this one boomer Furry Tale Lady happens to be less diligent, but it's a crazy coincidence that it involves Chantal.
ETA I'm not claiming a vast conspiracy. I just had a knee jerk reaction to how weird that was. Everyone else would have just recapped the info directly, and certainly not shared the person's name, even if its just a first name.
The haters would have still recognized Smokey and the apartment from the photos, though, so it would not have saved this poor cat lady from the maelstrom of insanity that no doubt hit her inbox this afternoon.
