Can't speak about how the DMV is in other parts of the country, but I'm so fucking glad that COVID made the DMV here in NY easier to work with via virtual appointment bookings, online wizards to figure out which forms of ID and papers are needed for what outcome, so on and so forth. The only time I spent was waiting for my number to get called after my picture was taken. On the whole? like 2 hours compared to 5 hours pre-COVID. Automation like this is what I can get behind if it means the clerk won't give me the half-assed runaround and they actually have to... y'know, do their fucking jobs. Now if only the USPS would stop buying arbitrary electric delivery cars, cutting hours from routes, and put that saved money to use streamlining the experience. You mean to tell me I can't print out my own stamps, but FedEx and UPS let me print out whole labels prepaid?

It wasn't just serving user-uploaded videos w/out proof of ownership. It was also that there was no verification of the age of the performers in the videos, and there was credible evidence that they were (whether intentionally or not) hosting CSAM. They weren't worried about government intervention so much as payment processors dropping the hammer on them. One of the "stronger requirements" they impose on adult service providers is "no CSAM / must take reasonable efforts to prevent CASM."

I think drug dealers should be made to smoke, ingest, shoot, or otherwise consume whatever drugs they're busted with, which I think solves the problem and disposes of the drugs. Even for drugs that are non-lethal in amounts that might normally be carried, I expect the experience of taking such a high dose will sufficiently dissuade them from making the mistake again. If that doesn't take, members of the public can dress up in demon costumes and chase repeat offenders around while they're tripping balls.
