He really reminds me of a jew on the sabbath. They believe by using little technicalities they can subvert Gods laws. For example they may not carry things outside of their home, so they put a big piece of string around a large chunk of Manhattan and call it their home.

Nick's the same exact way. But he forgets the law is enforced by people, judged by people and deliberated by people. Every single one of them can see through these overt manipulation attempts.

It's crazy thinking back at what Nick once was. He was sharp, he knew what he was doing and he was awake. Here he's got this kind of slurry, half awake quality. He's not full on drunk slurring. But a lot of the words have some slight slur.
