UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Anyone who has ever worked with people with "Allied health care profession" degrees will be able to tell you, Nurses are fucking insane. The level of self importance they have is off the scale and they're all unhinged in one way or another.

Nurses are why I don't work on my degree field along with how fucking atrocious the NHS is.

The theory here is that the money is ( largely ) dormant in Cash ISAs, where as it will stimulate our economy if invested in UK stocks and shares.
Yeah I get that. It’s just the sheer fucking cheek of it. The ultra rich get to squirrel their money away with loopholes, offshore, and art laundering. The rest of us should have the freedom to invest where we like, and what a lot of people want is a SAFE haven. Not to be exposed to massive risk. But no! We must be risky. We aren’t real people we are just units if economic growth. No offshore pile for you, and no little cash ISA for your modest dreams either. Pit it all against the markets so the line goes up for UK Plc and if you lose well fuck you.

I'm sure you know that the theory is that if these investments aren't in cash, they are invested in ( UK ) businesses, which indirectly stimulates these businesses to invest and enhance the economy providing jobs and more spending power for the plebs ?
Yeah, shit's rough.

Deport 10 million people.

If the limit is reduced to only 5k a year like what is being discussed for ISA's and your getting taxed on it then honestly what would even be the point of having one? I don't even think their stupid at this point, I think the goal of the government is to never allow you to own a home (young people using ISA's as a way to buy a first home is a very large amount of people setting up ISA's).
My lifetime ISA has had a 4k max limit since I've had it and they chuck an extra grand on top after every year when I deposit the max. This limit reduction appears to have come out of nowhere, and I'm admittedly confused on what exactly would come of this. Does it mean that your cash ISAs get to be fiddled with like the Stocks and Shares ISAs that you can get with Vanguard, or something to that effect? Regardless, I'm slowly making my way towards being able to afford a home, though I could get a real belter if the prices were reduced...

The art thing has always annoyed me. If only I knew an unscrupulous dealer who'd be willing to falsely value a literal blank canvas in the millions. That way I can get a life time of tax breaks for donations to a subsequent galleries. I'm honestly tempted to try some kind of open gallery, drop in a piece of paper with a stick figure drawn on it and charge a seven figure price tag just to see what happens.
There's got to be someone willing to pay £9,999,999.99 for my work right?

Starmer is surely toast at this point. Getting bashed by Reform and conservatives for not being right wing, embarrassed by his own party because he's not left enough.

Labour just proving what people should already know at this point: the days of being the workers party are over, now it's the not-workers party. You will be taxed to death on your earnings to provide for others who either can't work (which I don't actually have a problem with so long as they don't get extortionate sums), people who won't work, and brown immigrants. I include most people who say they have mental illnesses in the won't work category.

Small boats were in the news again because of record breaking numbers, BBC comment section is a hoot. It wasn't too long ago that even suggesting letting immigrants flood the country was a bad idea would have you thumbs-downed to oblivion with a load of ackshually replies and PROOOFFF??? Now it's all send them back, fuck France for letting them go, put them in camps. A few comedy "but Keir said he'd smash the gangs?!?" as if that were ever on the cards.

I still don't think I'm going to see what I want, gun emplacements along the English channel firing on any boat with more than 1 brown person in it. Might be a start though?

As if this wasn't bad enough, the Institute of Fiscal Studies severely doubts that Reeves' budget in October/November will be able to plug the now plentiful gaps.

When the top finance bods severely doubt the Chancellor, this is dangerous territory, yet Reeves is teflon (like Boris) and Starmer either will not or cannot sack her.

Reform UK is way ahead in the polls and I expect Barclays and Deloitte to back them after the recent attacks by Palestine Action - this would be a major boon to the party and show that they have confidence in Nigel as a future PM.

Maybe not September, but definitely some time this year, I think that change will come.

I'm concerned Reform and the shift to the right is going to cause an increase in violence from the unwanted groups. The Reform MP got attacked and punched in the head a few times by what I assume was a black or brown attacker (they don't talk about race or name). Doing some prepping and knowing where you can escape to if your area gets attacked would be a good idea. We saw how bad the summer riots were and if Reform makes a real push and becomes the default party you should expect violence. Chimp outs or staged chimp outs by international groups trying to make Reform's life difficult. Like the ICE Riots we saw in the states.

Wouldn't the countryside and small villages be the best option? They usually are, especially the former.

Remember to place a piece of Tesco own brand ham slice on every door handle of your house to deter any Islamic attacker from entering your home.

"Nothing ever happens" goes both ways.
The Left legitimately thinks any day now the Right is going to kill them all, implement Fascism and have us fall into a dystopia. It's semi-wishful thinking because it gives them the moral impetus to do the "radical" option:
IMG_0008.gif
The drift Rightward has been carried by nothing else other than the inertia from Southport, the mass of immigrants flooding in the year prior, and keeps getting pushed a little further based seemingly on nothing beside whim and the occasional sperging comment from someone on the Left. It almost feels like that bloke calling for the death of the IDF and anti-white comments did more to incense people than Baroness Casey review, but it tracks considering people need short, intense bursts of action to make them feel a particular way and the numbers in that review were hardly plastered everywhere. I think drawing attention to the fact he said "IDF"-shit instead of anti-white shit was the best/only thing the media could do to lessen the impact of that shit on Gazza, who just sees a black saying negative shit, mutters something about "votin' Reform" and "Maybe they'll stop talkin' 'bout me on the telly", then the parties scramble to determine the best reaction to Reform's polling still holding strong.

The only reason we probably won't see as many well-funded protests is because I think America is going to be the money sink for those with Trump in charge, though considering the returns (No Kings protests barely amounted to a blip) they may abandon that strat altogether considering how it can backfire (the police's reaction to the gypsy arrest riot versus Southport peaceful protests gave birth to "two-tier Kier"). The last ones I remember happening in the UK that were blatantly funded were the Southport counter-protests (tiny) and a lot earlier during Brexit. I recall some shit with BLM but the most that ever amounted to was a riot and any professional protests were miniscule affairs. Oh, and the various (USAID-funded) environmental groups that do dumb shit every so often but have been quietly dying after since they lost that endless bucket. I think at this point in the political zeitgeist, chimpouts and riots from browns and their allies will only hurt them, and maybe they're aware of this?

I think that the violent attacks will be Left on Left before it's Left against Right.

The ones to watch are Palestine Action - they've caused trouble (again) in Bristol and despite being days away from being proscribed are openly stating that they are going to carry on and they will 'get worse' unless their demands are met:

* Permanent ceasefire in Gaza
* No armaments places in the UK help Israel
* The 'environmental crisis' is addressed and Miliband reverses his oil-drilling plans
* The 1.5 degree Celsius rise in global temperatures is stopped
* Trans rights to be mandated in law and the current (Starmer) agreed law is axed

Some are saying 'they're state actors'... well the actor/s aren't sticking to their lines.

If there are 'chimp outs' and Left on Left/Right violence, that will only add to Reform UK's popularity - as all Nigel has to say is 'we will end this nonsense, we'll jail these morons and we'll get back to the common sense society of old.'

It's ironic that I've just finished listening to this song with a rather apt name:

Hardly trouble, it's a warehouse and some small offices Elbit rent on a business park on the outskirts of Bristol. They always do the same thing, block one of the entrances and spray some paint around.

They're so... ineffective part of me wonders if PA isn't some sort of Israeli operation to make anti-zionists look like headcases.

It's not like the Muslim cock suckers need any help looking like they fell off the short bus. Muslims in general are mental; the ones supporting Palestine are monumental spastics. And their non Muslim handmaidens are worse by a long shot.

Our country is fucking broken. If you care about issues outside of it to the point you're protesting, but not outraged and protesting about domestic issues then fuck right off to the festering boil of a country you care more about.

So regarding violence, it will indeed be left on the left. The left always eats itself. The diverse minorities that hate each other will vie to be the dominant. The more centrist left will be surprised Pikachu and Homer Simpson into a bush.

As for Starmer, it is over; they have a taste for rebellion, and now they want blood.
