Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

David Cage games are alright. People tend to shit on his writing a lot, but if you dont take them too seriously, they can be quite fun
I've only played Heavy Rain and Beyond, both of which are complete schlock. But HR was grounded in some semblance of reality and I appreciated the varying branching paths and several endings.

Beyond was fucking dogshit and wasted Dafoe. I didn't play Detroit since it's got that mystery meat nigger whose half White, but hates White people.

The part where Flowey indirectly calls you, the player, a coward who vicariously experiences the murders Frisk commits because you don't have the balls to do yourself. Nigger it is you who programmed all this, it's not my fault you published this for me to play.
I suppose you could interpret Flowey's line that way. Most people interpret it has a meta jab at people who watch the genocide route on Youtube rather than play it themselves.

I don’t mind mods that upscale textures or fix resolution woes from older games but I hate graphic mods that drastically alter the original game’s art style.
In most cases I don't even like upscaled textures. It can be okay in some situations, but very often in older games the geometric complexity of an object and the quality of its textures are matched in such a way to look "right" and high-res textures on low-poly models just end up looking goofy.

Stuff like Reshade has a similar problem where they're so focused on creating needlessly dramatic lighting effects that it destroys the original aesthetic. Most visual mods just aren't tastefully applied.

the red part in the video is from the body of the many level which has a funny trivia by the way.

and it's gone, replaced by a plasticky look and some extra animations because MODERN GAMING.
at least the multiplayer doesn't crash teh game like in the OG.

i immediately lose interest in a graphics overhaul mod once it adds real life brands into the game, it feels like a lazy copout to just put a texture of coca cola or burger king instead of actually upscaling and remaking the texture

that's another thing i agree with, seeing the various ENB/Reshade mods in GTA 3-SA just never looked right and make the games look like bootlegs

I don’t think indie games are going to save gaming at all. Most indie games are shovelware slop that consists of 5000 variations of Metroid or some other game genre that is severely overused, a shiton of asset flips that makes the game both buggy and cancerous to look at thanks to UE5 slop, shoving of modern day soy politics, “innovative and quirky” games that seem to be forgotten after 2 months, art styles that seems to be boring nostalgia bait, and it just feels so unoriginal as a result.

Synthetic Man is right about one thing, Gaming is fucking dying and nothing is going to change it.

How much of a fucking pussy you have to be to be scared of killing imaginary characters on the computer?
No wait, I'm talking about the Undertale fandom...

I agree but I'd say most of the quality and innovation is in AA and has been for a while. Indie can be very innovative but usually lacks quality. AAA used to have quality but rarely innovated too much in fear of losing players.
True but unfortunately those are very small compared to the over saturation of complete garbage that exist in multiple platforms.

While I understand the nostalgia for PS3/Xbox 360, I feel some of that comes from rose tinted glasses from sensationalism. You try playing a seventh generation game on a modern TV, you'd notice jagged anti-aliasing or poorer performance. Perhaps the advances of technology have spoiled us once you're used to them. It doesn't feel new anymore.

I will say late gen PS3/360 games were fucking terrible and a beginning of the decline. Ugly, laggy, homogeneous blobs.

What I love from the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era was their unique opening UIs (or startup OS, I don't know the exact term for it.) The Wii has TV channels, the PS3 has a futuristic like vertical interface called the XMB, the 360 had Blades, the New Xbox Experience followed by Metro.

Now, all modern console UIs just blur together with lifeless, sterile tiles. Microsoft is especially guilty of bad modern UIs. The first Xbox One's UI was horrible. The 360's last UI is horrible as well with the bad green UIs compared to Metro from Kinect.

Every generation has performance issues. Anti-aliasing doesn't make or break a game. As long as it's at a playable FPS you can look past graphics issues.

Playstation and Xbox are basically competing with the PC, and losing. Back then, their exclusives gave them an edge, now, not so much, since those exclusives are now available on the PC legally.

Nintendo is its own beast, mostly family and party games that appeal to parents and kids; and they have suzerainty over that market, giving them an exclusive niche that neither Sony nor Microsoft can compete with. Even though the Switch 2 doesn't have that many games outside of remasters of Switch games and Mario Kart World, they still sold consoles like hotcakes and laughed all the way to the bank.

that doesn't get them off the hook either, even if they try their hardest to sue any emulator developer.
somebody once told me, somewhere, will try to emulate a nintendo console, it's just the way it is, nintendo.
