UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

At least you still have the Scottish Highlands :)

I just see them as the same old smelly streetshitters with the addition of towel rags for some reason. Don't see any difference really.

You'd think they would use that for cleaning themselves and not a hat.

The Sikhs don't like Muslims, and the first real hard hitting civ nattery came from the counter-jihad movement. It's a hold over from that. Also in general Sikhs aren't that bad as far as foreigns go. I had a few Sikh friends growing up, they were nice guys, dated a Sikh girl, nice girl, nice parents, very 'integrated.' In very small numbers they are model immigrants, but sadly the children of invaders don't stay children, and they will always have more in common with outsiders like them, than they will us. So they will inevitably agitate for them.

Alright @Bog-standard Poster - morbid curiosity's gotten the better of me.

Birmingham has rape gangs, Manchester has stabbings, and London is London - what's Leeds's deal? (Besides being the home of fucked up kids' show hosts)
Nowadays? Nothing that should be kept, maintained or idolised. Back in the day it was a great city, full of yorkshire folk, their accents and their british ability to queue patiently while moaning. Have a look at the Northern Rock collapse in 2007/2008, where hundreds queued patiently to get their money out of the bank before it ran out.

It was around that time that it started to become gentrified, with the Uni pushing for southern and/or rich students to flock to the city in order to take advantage of the cheap housing, cheap lifestyle and decent night life. Not helped by Prince Harry's ex, Chelsea, who went to Uni there, further upping the cost of the housing and class of students.
What followed was globalist buildings and soulless shopping centres popping up left, right and centre, all paid for by foreigners and/or southerns to again take advantage of cheap land prices. Then you can imagine what happened next.

I went through the city for some shopping in the early 2000's and realised I had not heard a single yorkshire accent, the whole place had become mini-London. Now it's a brownoid globalist shit hole copy-pasta city that should be firebombed along with Manchester, Birmingham and London. It's a shame.

The funny thing is, there was a popular nightclub there where you would go, get leathered and watch a load of drag acts on stage. It was a good, honest laugh and full of lads lads just having good craic, back when that sort of stuff was there to be laughed with/at and not admired or held up on a pedestal. Man, I miss the 90s

TL;DR - from a 'local' small-town feeling city to a metropolitan globalist nigger-fied shit hole in two decades.

t's just really hard to care about my best mate from high school Singh who's 3rd generation and works in STEM when the country is actively being raped by an unsustainable horde

The worst part is, there is a place for migrants in our country, when they're bringing something unique and are fitting in with British culture. Unfortunately, we are so far away from being in a place where that's not only possible, but a positive contribution to the country, that even reading these words would make otherwise foreigner-friendly people turn into Hitler.

I want to deport all foreigners going back to the 80's, not because I hate foreigners, but because if we don't, millions of innocent people will die.

[Actually] Socialist comedian Tom Walker is super frustrated with Stammer.
He'll revert to form once his handlers tell him 'Starmer man good, Farage man bad.'

His finest hour was the Trump video in 2016, I thought 'finally, a Lefty gets the message - calling us racists, shitheads, Nazis etc. is not going to make us change our mind.'

Since then, he's just attacked the Right because he's too scared to attack the Left - a good comic and comedian will attack both and call out each side's hypocrisy.

Sorry, I didn't particularly want to pick sikhs. It was just a personal example.

To be clear though, Im not a civnat. Any notion of mass "coexistence" being good was shattered in my mind when I learnt that the nice Indian lady next door, who made 6-year old me food when my parents worked late, was also a fucking nightmare cunt who held it over my parents' head and squeezed them for free work on her house every chance she got in typical jeet "take a mile" fashion.

I'm just trying to explain why it's hard to care on a day-to-day basis. If it came down to it, I would happily take the responsibility of explaining to my buddy and every other friendly brown I know that, as much as I care for him, I think India would be a better place with more people like them, and England would be a better place with less.

James McMurdock has resigned the Reform whip whilst an investigation is carried out into alleged impropriety involving his business.
There have been allegations made against him for a while.

It's known that he was abusive towards an ex, but he has served his sentence and is a changed man.

If these allegations are true, he needs to go, but if they are unsubstantiated and only being put about by people whose sole goal is to get him removed as an MP because they don't like Reform UK then it is they who will have to apologise.

The investigation, I believe, won't take place until after the summer recess in 17 days time.

Spot on but to add on to the sentiment; l**ds is the gayshit capital of the UK, it's very much our version of LA with all the corrupting influences omnipresent there, and it's an utter magnet for Everything We Don't Like for... some reason.
Manchester has the likes of cAnal street and the malignant influence of le bbc, Birmingtsan is browned, l**ds? All that and more, it's some leyline nexus shit and I'm not sure why.

Leeds is bad because Yorkshire contains Bradford which for ages was the Paki capital of Europe. Gradually as time went on, resident white folk from Leeds started their white flight as more people from Bradford moved more inward to where the jobs are (aka, cousin Yafir's Paki shop)

It doesn't help that Leeds is probably the most 'studenty' city in England, bar maybe Bristol. For why? I have no fucking clue, but it feels like whenever I pass through Leeds my sole interactions are retard students and Pakis. I now completely blacklist it as a potential place to go to a gig if there's another city in England where a band is playing.

The last time I went to Leeds was pre-Covid and it was like setting foot in Mumbai.

It's a city which has sadly, quite literally, gone to shit.

Looks like the Palestine Action supporters have started getting getting arrested.
More than 20 people have been arrested in London after a protest in support of the banned group Palestine Action, the Metropolitan Police has said.

Pictures from the demonstration showed a small group holding placards reading "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action" in Westminster.

As of Saturday, the group is proscribed under the Terrorism Act 2000, after lawyers acting on its behalf failed with a court bid to block the ban on Friday.

The designation means that being a member of, or showing support for Palestine Action, is a criminal offence and could lead to up to 14 years in prison.
In an earlier statement, the Met said: "Officers are responding to a protest in support of Palestine Action in Parliament Square.

"The group is now proscribed and expressing support for them is a criminal offence."

The government moved to ban the group after an estimated £7m of damage was caused to planes at RAF Brize Norton last month during a protest Palestine Action said it was behind.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced plans to proscribe the group last month, calling damage to two military aircraft "disgraceful" and claiming the group had a "long history of unacceptable criminal damage".

In case anyone was wondering whether these were independent individuals showing their support or yet another organised effort let's play, "were the signs mass produced?"
