KERRVILLE, Texas — At Camp Mystic, along the Guadalupe River, more than 20 campers are still not accounted for. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said about 23 campers are not accounted for as of 3 p.m.

The camp had more than 700 kids, many of whom are from out of town. Officials say parents have been notified if their kids are among those missing.

Staff notified parents that all campers at Cypress Lake and Senior Hill are accounted for, adding that those whose daughters are "not accounted for" have been notified.

"We are working with search and rescue currently," the camp said in its communication. "The highway has washed away so we are struggling to get more help. Please continue to pray and send any help if you have contacts to do so."

Officials say the Ingram Elementary School will be the rendezvous point for Camp Mystic campers to reunite with families. Reports say rescued campers will be transferred via helicopter.

Representatives from Mo Ranch along the Guadalupe River say all campers and families from that camp are safe and accounted for.

Parents with kids at the camps are urged to contact camp officials directly.

This is a developing story.

At least 13 killed in Kerrville, Texas area floods. Possibly more, the chance of them being found drops off the longer time has passed.

By flooding one small area, in a county of less than 60,000 people (a quarter of whom are hispanic)?

What a pack of fucking ghouls.
Man people are really irrational right now. They want any reason to celebrate the other side suffering. Also a lot are still mad at the number of spics who went Trump last year.

These are children who are missing! Some people are just idiots.
Always have been.

I am already seeing comments about ‘God punishing Trump voters’
That's their famed "empathy" at work. They're trying to justify it by pointing out that Trump voters scorned California's wildfires as God's wrath, conveniently omitting that the state, for years now, has allowed the fires to worsen because they don't do basic fucking forest management.

They are also blaming Trump ‘defunding’ NOAA and weather alerts.

That's terrifying. A house is supposed to protect you and boom you get swept away just like that
Water rose about 8 feet in a hour. It's about 40' above normal to reach some of those cabins.
Missing down from 61. Now 49, 6 found 6 dead. Camp Mystic owner died going down with the ship apparently trying to save kids.

Local list of all those missing, not including the trailer parks folks.
Last flood major was in 1987 on the Guadalupe. 2002 had a localized one that was 45'?

HW 39 Eastbound into Hunt, Texas.

Bridge over the Llano river (in Llano) about 70 miles north. I think that bridge bottom support is 50'. 1978 was 55', almost to the top of the supports but not over the bridge from what I was told.

Some rumors:
Mystic camp owner died trying to pull a cabin full of girls out of the flooding area.
Flood height was about 20'+ at one point.
Flood hit at 4AM and only got the warning about 2AM.

From a friend of a friend:
My 8 year son awoke to yelling. He was on bottom bunk and water was at bottom of mattress. Said they climbed to top bunks and thenrafters. We were in a much better place because La Junta sent out all accounted for texts starting at 6:30 ish... Mystic wasn't able to do the same. Our Daughter supposed to be there in August. Buddy had to ID his 8 year old at morgue.

Apperently the youngest were at the top of the camp and were evacuated last... Because it was assumed they would be the safest. Somewhere I don't think they thought the flooding would be this bad.

Hate to say it but even though the camp is like 100 years old, it was known to have been located in a floodplain- it should have been relocated decades ago especially considering the nature of Texas rivers to flash flood. Regardless, it’s sad for the victims and I hope they quickly find the missing girls with a good outcome.
