The absolute state of the US Military....

On one hand, the sense of unity and importance placed on "everyone serves a role" is good for morale and identity, the logistics and support elements (to an extent) seperates us from third world chimpout armies. It has always been this way, in everything from ancient to rome to medieval and pike and shot warfare, the majority of those marching in an "army" were support roles, this system consistently defeated fighting forces without such.
On the other hand..... i really sometimes feel like they should split up some of the symbolic shit, maybe reserve camo uniforms for actual warfighters, or at the very least forward support units.
That bitch getting her diploma is 100% going to be in payment processing, washing machine repair, cooking, or before trump even something like human resources. But she will add to the stat of "black women in service" and the average normie who sees that stat, or meets her in person, will genuinely believe she was dodging bullets on the front lines.
Working indirectly for a military base for a few years and hanging out with these guys really opened my eyes to how much support there is in the military (even the necessary support roles, to say nothing about the wasted bloat which also exists). Less than 10% of people will ever see combat or anything close to it. The rest are just getting a stable job and benefits, if you never left the states you don't need free therapy like somebody who saw their friend's head blown off by an IED in iraq does.
On that note: there also needs to be a dirty discussion about who gets the "veteran's benefits", I was a hair away from qualifying and I don't deserve them at all. Frankly 80% of the people in the military don't deserve them the way we think about them.
Grouping all of these things under "veteran" is leading to a lot of confusion, both in discourse and statistics.
