A couple months back, I (22 MtF) got a call and a print from my endocrinologist, that I got an extra Y chromosome. Felt like a kick in teeth for me to basically have male plus as a person amab. Turns out, after doing more blood tests and karyotyping, that I have chromosomal mosaicism. It's a fairly rare condition where some cell lines have different karyotypes. Out of 35 samples, I had 5 XYY combinations, 28 XY combinations and 2 XX combinations. I'm officially a transphobes biological nightmare as I can say I have XX chromosomes as a trans woman.

I never knew something like that was possible and even my doc says that she's never seen that before but knew of the possibility. It's so incredibly absurd, to have freaking THREE sets of chromosomes. One of my close friends is studying medicine and he basically said that is like winning the genetic lottery in terms of rarity.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Christmas eve, as the discussions with my conservative part of the family are going to be very interesting.

I have a few words for this idiot:

1. You have two XX combinations, but you still aren't a woman. You wouldn't need all kinds of surgeries and hormones if those chromosomes were doing anything at all for you.
2. I think I'll have to pull out YouTuber King Critical's argument here. A huge logical fallacy that infects all trannies is this weird idea that binary = simple and spectrum = complex. This isn't true. Just because something is a binary or exists in otherwise distinct categories doesn't mean that you cannot have variation (or things that go wrong) within them.

This is why the medical establishment is moving away from the term 'intersex' and moving toward 'differences in sex development' or DSD. People with these conditions are NOT in-between sexes, it's just more difficult to tell at times what's going on. The body still organizes itself primarily around a specific gamete type. Even if the term 'intersex' were accurate, I'd make the argument that the exceptions don't overturn the rule.

For example, let's look at atavism, or vestigial traits. Many people have them (I have them in my wrists, for example, others can wriggle their ears, etc.), and many other species have them as well. Do we throw out the categories of human, dog, cat, bird, ape, horse, etc., because of this? No. If I went to a vet, they'd throw me out. Why? Because I'm human. We aren't inter-species, we just have a throwback trait.

From what I can tell, the prevalence varies depending on what's being tested. That being said, it looks like there are about five different times during the process of testing where cross-contamination is possible.
