In most cases I would agree, but when it comes to people who rape and molest children, I find it hard to see why they should ever be given rest.

It's the hypocrisy that gets me.

Convicted of molesting multiple children = he served his time idk
Accused of being a nebulously defined chud = exiled from society forever

Code of Conducts have always been a infiltration by corporate HR into community ran FOSS projects. That is the entire point of them. The woketards are just useful idiots for corpos, always have been.

Canonical is employing a registered sex offender (child molester) and felon. From a pure business perspective Jeremy Bicha is not fit to fulfill his role. He likely cannot freely travel and the very concept of canonical funding a child molester to represent them at conferences is a legal liability issue. Is Jeremy Bicha even allowed around children (or places children commonly congregate)? His very presence at Canonical creates an unsafe work environment, measurably defined by the fact he's on the sex offender registry.

Meanwhile Canonical would fire you in a second if you denounce giving HRT to children. Everyone would be contorting themselves into pretzels about his free speech isn't freedom from consequences. As if verbalizing a political opinion like that is worthy of exile, a political opinion which is majority consensus btw. They want to destroy metux because he dared denounce DEI, again, a majority political opinion.

Lets see how the kernel mailing list handles it when Hans Reiser gets released. I mean, all he did was kill his mail order bride. It's not like he's a serial child molester or something. Paid his debt to society, right?

You have to wonder how a lot of Canonical employees feel about this. One is already posting screenshots of their internal chat on /g/ saying its all quiet.

I have to imagine the regular ol employees find these kinds of things disgusting. Imagine the message sent if he is kept on.

Most of the regular employees in Open Source companies like Ubuntu are progressive True Believers who slammed the Kool-Aid into their veins years ago.

I think it's important that people question if Canonical knew Jeremy Bicha is a serial child molester.

Did they know? If not, why not? Have they never bothered googling this guys name? Did it take some rando on an internet board to punch this guys name into the sex offender registry to uncover this?
If they did know, when did they know and what was the decision making process?
Has this been an open secret? How many people were covering for Jeremy Bicha?

Rumor-mill says they do, but Jeremy Bicha came in before they started doing a much more intensive interview process. I don't know, I don't work for Canonical.

This would indicate that Canonical is screening out felons, reasonably so for a entity potentially targeted for supply chain attacks and dealing with regulated Sarbanes-Oxley support contracts.

From what I understand he did the abuse from ages 12 to ~15 with the victim being age 9 up to age ~12. Still really fucking awful, but slightly less awful than if he was a fully grown adult. When children do fucked up stuff like this, they can recover. Though with the frequency of the abuse here I don't know that still applies. Him being a minor at the time is probably also the reason he wasn't punished much, if at all. Which is understandable, I don't think a kid should get the death sentence or life imprisonment over anything.
