All this just feels weird. Like if this was always the endgame goal here and they knew they were never going to prosecute anyone what was the point of hyping it up and even bringing it up to begin with? I could sort of get going for broke and saying anything to get elected, but why even bring it up after winning? Furthermore, why make it such a big deal and do that big binder PR thing a few months ago? There are a million and one ways to make this story die off - the Biden admin never even touched it for four years and the democrats just kind of shrugged their shoulders (and if the tables were turned most of MAGA would probably do it too if Trump never said a word about Epstein after November as long as he was making the political/economic changes they wanted). What I just don't get from a PR perspective is why, if they knew they weren't going to prosecute anyone from day one, why make this big PR deal about it and even mention it after you've won the election? And why end the whole thing like this?
It reminds me of how Trump negotiated with Iran, lulled them into a false sense of control/security, then bombed the fuck out of them the next day. I'm not saying that this is some 5D chess master gambit from Trump at all and occam's razor is usually undefeated, but it just seems really odd. Could he be trying to provoke public unrest from democrats to cause more riots? This just feels like it's done so bluntly, so anti-climatically, and so dismissively that it seems like meant to illicit some kind of reaction. For who or to what end I have no idea
