Even if Ian is an insufferable, vindictive, stinky, fraudulent retard, I do see an attempt to clean up his act after the inevitable divorce.

I've seen what a bad relationship does to people. It can be so slow and subtle, but it will eventually break someone down until they are nothing and unrecognizable (think Ethan's genuine disbelief of who Ian has become). However, getting out of those situations allows for self-rediscovery. It depends on him, I guess.

Ian used to be calculated and savvy (with his money at least). He may have always been a petty autist, but he was able to hold down long-term friendships. He used to be way more charismatic than whatever the fuck he is now. Hell, it looked like he even showered regularly.

She has convinced him that he is ugly, unhygienic trash who needs help putting his thoughts into words (how the fuck could this be the case when his older Content Cop and Kickstarter Crap videos were just him speaking at the camera unfiltered). That he is an evil, white (former) landlord man. That he needed to be saved from his old friends who were just trying to take advantage of him, effectively isolating him. That it's okay to embarrass himself in public by being a sniveling crybaby (but made a whole video segment on how that's one of the most unattractive things a man can do in front of a woman).

I think Anisa was evil straight from the womb, but he was molded in her image. If there is anyone left in his sphere who still cares for him after she's gone, he could at least have some support to work towards a better, quiet, OFFLINE life.
