IDK I just find it hard to fathom how you default on a government loan in a totalitarian dictatorship, its a controlled, communist economy, they set your wages and can also garnish them so..... are people just not working in your mind?

There's an old soviet saying. "They pretend to pay us so we pretend to work".

Notice how the wage slave handing you your burger can never quite manage to get your order right and they don't seem to be paying attention or care. There's not a financial incentive to put in effort so they just don't. The manager doesn't give a shit because even if they fired them the next person they hired would be exactly like them.

garnishing wages is slow and shitty, often it would take the bank like 50+ years to garnish the amount that was supposed to be paid back in 10. also, depending on wages and interest rates, you might get into a situation where the interest makes the loan grow faster than you can garnish. either way if this happens to a lot of debtors then it throws a big wrench in the banks financial plans, which are usually tight and don't leave much room for error.
