The screenshots in that comment are worth a look.

You know, a lot of people missed this detail in Idiocracy, because it's subtle, but their society was basically run by AI. When Joe orders the crops to be irrigated with water (from the toilet), sales of Brawndo drop and the CEO says "the computer did that 'layoff' thing"

Add that to the list of themes that Idiocracy was way ahead of its time in depicting. People used to think AI meant utopia (or possibly skynet, but definitely one of those two). Now that we have it, we see that it will happily prop up stupidity if you tell it to.

Eastpointe — A McDonald's employee was charged Friday with first-degree murder after being accused of fatally stabbing the manager of the Eastpointe fast-food restaurant as many as 15 times on Thursday and posting videos on social media about her work dispute.

Afeni Muhammad, 26, was arraigned Friday in 38th District Court in Eastpointe via videoconference from the Macomb County Jail and was charged with first-degree murder, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent and being a habitual offender-second notice.

If convicted, she faces up to life in prison for the first-degree murder charge, and up to five years for carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent.
