OBBBA simply eliminates these regulatory credits and fines.
If I recall, factory emissions also work under a similar framework where those factories that meet or exceed emission standards can sell their "credits" to those who can't or won't meet the standards and see the credits as a cheaper alternative than the fines they would otherwise receive and consider it just another business cost. It's all a shell/zero-sum game where nothing gets accomplished because the reductions in emissions are essentially offset by the companies still spewing them with no intent to stop.
As much as I doubt this would happen, the salt from Ohio Democrats if it did would be absolutely glorious.
New Hampshire Democrat State Rep. Jodi Newell said she wanted to make her mark in the legislature by focusing on substance abuse
She was just arrested for driving under the influence.
If that was her way to bring awareness to substance abuse issues, she certainly made her point.
The media is doing what it does best.
“ICE forcefully raided a California farm and arrested farmers.”
REALITY: It was a WEED farm exploiting child labor, and ICE agents had rocks thrown and a gun fired at them
Illegals are literally jumping off roofs like fucking idiots and you're blackpilling?
When tonight's national news reported the raids, they definitely tried to spin it as "These poor farmers were manhandled and taken away when they did nothing wrong." For show, they interviewed a kid who was trying to figure out what happened to his parents - one of whom was later revealed to have allegedly assaulted one of the agents. The piece concluded by saying someone died when they fell trying to avoid ICE - conveniently omitting the part where the person jumped off a roof in an ultimately fatal attempt to flee.
Someone I know who isn't Trump fan and thinks he should be departing illegals who committed other crimes first over those who haven't stated violently obstructing ICE is wrong and anyone who imperils themselves to prevent the illegal aliens from being rounded up gets whatever they deserve.
Y'know, it'd be really funny if the feds used the fact that marijuana is still illegal at the federal level to obliterate this guy on top of the litany of other charges he could be catching.
ICBW, but I think the Feds generally defer to state laws regarding marijuana. What could happen, though, is that they conduct an I-9 audit to verify all the workers are legal and/or a federal income tax audit since what is and isn't deductible with marijuana operations is quite particular and easy to screw up by any business cutting corners or flat out ignoring the law.
you think they were ANTICIPATING the hit from loss of child labor?
I can't speak for California, but other states with legal marijuana are seeing revenues drop, whether it's from too many pot shops being open which results in an oversupply and lower prices, or people buying less once the novelty of buying legal joints wears off. With less pot revue coming in, I'm not surprised California wants to bump up the tax rate so they dont have to cut anything dependent on that income stream. California is notorious for its misguided belief it can tax its way out of anything - this is same state where increased taxes were used to bankroll free healthcare for all illegal alien residents age 26 and under.
Let them and record it so that the public can learn how the opposition is wasting their tax dollars because of all this stuff.
Those in the public who already believe foreign citizens should enter the county legally if they want to work, visit, etc. are having thier beliefs reaffirmed by what they're seeing even with the media's efforts to spin a different narrative. That said, the hope is the independent and undecided keep this in mind in the next wave of elections.
Atticus Ford Reyes, the Ojai Unified School District School Board (located in California) President, attended the protest at the weed farm raid in California and complained about ICE agents arresting people.
This isn't suprising. If thise school distric is like many others, most of the candidates run unopposed and go all in on DEI and liberal talking points. Heck, I saw something floating around social media the other day lamenting that an "All are welcome here" sign now being forbidden in a classroom will mean kids will automatically start being mean to each other. If a teacher need a sign to make the point kids need to be respectful in the classroom, there's bigger issues goign on.
