Pretty what I expected his reaction to be. As others said I don't think he understands how much people do actually care about this, as a matter of government transparency. He's not someone who really put much focus there because it isn't in line with his "common sense" principles.

He cares about the economy, taxes, employment, manufacturing, national security, and low hanging fruit like illegal immigration not being enforced which impacts many of those directly and indirectly.
The Epstein list doesn't impact any of them.

The JFK and RFK stuff he likely did for Bobby, and because they're so old regardless of what was in there it wouldn't matter.
There is potentially stuff in the Epstein files that could cause chaos and interrupt his high priority goals, so it isn't as much of an easy choice to make and much more tempting to say forget it, people don't care that much anyway.

It is possible he'll get enough backlash that he reconsider, but it would probably take a strong long lasting response and I'm not sure how likely that is.

Like with the JFK files it may be more of a long game, not letting it fall out of the public eye or thought, and being very noisy about it. People knew from the start (I think around half of people in the years after the assassination) that something was off with the narrative and they never shut up about it since. Same thing should happen here.

I'm not happy about this, but my hope is he might change his mind if he gets enough negative reaction from his core base. Disappointing but not surprising.

This is an extremely bizarre statement from Trump that pretty much just confirms what a lot of us were worried about. That the CIA will not allow any information about the Epstein case to be public for shady reasons and this probably confirms that there are some people like maybe Steve Bannon incriminated in the files as well as probably other leftist figures. Trump claims that the files are illegitimate because they were written by corrupt people but in the same statement asks "If there was anything in the files that could hurt the MAGA Movement, why didn't they use it?"

Good question Trump! That's why we aren't going to stop talking about this. He's framing it as if we only want to list so we can destroy him but that's the last thing on any of our minds because Trump protecting the Epstein associates is more likely to cause permanant damage to MAGA than if he released the list because most of us don't believe Trump is incriminated in the files himself, but that there are certain other people in the government or simply just elite classes incriminated on the list. People that need to be drained from the swamp right? But Trump's Xeet is indicating that there are people close to his administration that are incriminated in the files and that he's protecting them by blocking the information being released and claiming it's all a fake set up. But if the files are fake in the first place and it's all a setup by the Democrats, then why the fuck wouldn't they use it? Instead they actively denied that the list existed and that the pedo shit never happened in the first place. This whole thing stinks of shit.

if his last act as president is release the Epstein files and throw a molotov on his way out (especially if it's somehow a Dem) then all is forgiven.

Lol, Jamie Dimon isn't a "liberal." JPMorgan Chase, and banks that follow their lead, had DEI because it was essentially required. You'll find that, beginning in January of this year, those programs are being reduced, renamed, and well on their way to minimization at best.

This is more true than people want to acknowledge. JPMorgan gave more to Trump in 2024, but gave more to Biden in 2020. A lot of these major corporations put their money where the wind is blowing.

As long as DEI remains popular and expected in Corporate America, Mr. Dimon will be sure to include it in JPM/Chase's business practices. I'd wager 500 quatloos your nearest Chase branch currently has poster ads for mortgages, loans, and CDs that all feature minority individuals or families exclusively and you won't find a single white person in them any time soon. In the past, idle ATMs have displayed messages about Black History and Pride Month.

The only reason to keep DEI in place with a new name is to make it more palatable for opponents who don't realize its still being used but with a different name/acronym. It's Dimon's way to appeal to the current administration ("We will minimize DEI") while doing what keeps the shareholders happy ("It will still be here, just under a different name").

This is a bit of a contradiction.
Why would they make up files only for them not to implicate their enemies? What would be the point of making them up, then?
Either they're made up for some sort of malicious purpose and thus they're not worth spending time on because it's all fake, or they're not made up and that's why they don't implicate who the democrats would have most liked to pin.
Either they implicate democrats and neocons and other swamp creatures because they're real and that's why they haven't leaked anything from them because it would only hurt them to do so, or they don't implicate any democrats at all because they "made them up".

This is one of their better psy-ops lately I'll give them that. I can't make heads or tails of what's going on.

If the Clintons are somehow involved in creating the Epstein files, why would they (Billy for that matter), put himself in there? Why drag all these random people's names through the mud?
Why is Alan Dershowitz saying it's real? Why is Elon going back and forth on what he's "seen" in the files? If these files don't exist, then what did they mean by Obama, Clintons, Biden, and Intel spooks creating them? How do you create something that doesn't exist? How can Pam Bondi have files on her desk that don't exist?

I don't know where to begin with this.
