UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

A major step backwards, especially in small towns where the last bank has shut down.

If it weren't for Post Offices agreeing to help out, a lot of people would be up shit creek.

Any bank which withdraws physical service needs to be fined. If they refuse service, withdraw their licence to trade and confiscate any profits and assets - shareholders be damned.
Yeah, we've got no banks left, and they took their ATMs with them.
There's one at the local supermarket, and one on a smaller, express type shop the other end of town, which has a 50/50 chance of having cash in.
If it wasn't for the Post Office, nobody would have a place to do face to face transactions.
The next nearest banks are a 30 minute drive or train away.
Or for the pensioners who mostly desire these transactions, with a bus pass, an hour bus journey away.
It's even worse for the people in the wee villages.

Literally the last time I ever needed to walk into a bank was 4 years ago to cash a cheque, only to be condescendingly told by the cashier I could just use my banking app to take a screenshot of it. Granted, I've fucking cursed it and tomorrow I'll probably find out I need to call up some Paki call centre to fix a card issue.
The more they digitize these things the more easier it is to take it away from you.

An alleged 764 member was arrested 2 days ago, however he was arrested because he was a part of a ransomware group which extorted the stores "Marks & Spencer" and "Harrods", as well as a British food retailer named "Co-op Group."

I remember when niggers found a "banking app hack" that was just commiting cheque fraud against themselves via this method.

A small boat migrant has been charged with three sexual assaults in Essex - just over a week after crossing the English Channel.

Ethiopian "asylum seeker" Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, 38, denies the charges, which cover a period between Monday and Tuesday in Epping.

Kebatu also denied inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity and harassment without violence.

The 38-year-old was remanded in custody after the hearing at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Thursday - where District Judge Christopher Williams said he would face a trial within 56 days.

She said Kebatu had "no ties to anyone or any place in the UK", adding: "Immigration have confirmed he has only been in the UK since June 29, 2025."

Home Office figures show that 585 migrants arrived on the South Coast on eight dinghies on that day.

Raphael Pigott, defending, said: "I believe he is here as a refugee or asylum seeker, and that he arrived informally on a boat."

"The events that took place in Epping on Tuesday are both deeply disturbing and extremely concerning," he said, and thanked police for their "rapid and effective" response.

The Home Office said that the asylum system was "under strain" following Whitbread's call.

"That was the situation the Government inherited, but we have begun to restore order, with a rapid increase in asylum decision-making and the removal of more than 24,000 people with no right to be in the UK," a spokeswoman said.

"By restoring order to the system, we will be able to end the use of asylum hotels over time, and reduce the overall costs to the taxpayer of asylum accommodation."

Latest data from the department shows that 55 migrants are being housed under Epping Forest's jurisdiction.

Nigger turns up. in 2 days he's molesting women in the street. And no one thinks maybe we have a serious problem?

Well, I certainly hope and pray that the carnival passes without incident.

If it doesn't, then axe it.
Every year there are huge fights, people getting stabbed and the occasional death. I've said previously but imagine Nottinghill carnival was a pub, they would have shut that shit down after the first time someone threw a punch.

So I'm two weeks in to my tour of Scotland, and I'd thought share my observations.
As an Australian of Celtic descent (not a darkie) I thought the people were nicer to me than back in 2012 when I last visited. Granted, last time I was over for the Maclean clan gathering, so that was peak "fat American wearing a kilt badly" season.
The towns look sad, Thurso was particularly jarring in how depressed it seemed, given how far it is from London.
The islands are tourist destinations so they seem to be doing well, but Skye was disgusting with how badly the tourists behaved. I filled my pockets with other people's rubbish while walking up to Storr, because apparently they can't take their lolly wrappers home.
Fuel is brutally expensive, 75-100% more expensive than Australia, which is already bad. As a consequence, food is pretty expensive too, in fact the only thing that is cheaper is beer at the pub. Your pints are about 30% less than ours.

I had a lot of people ask about emigrating to Australia, but in a strange, almost hopeless way, like its been taken for granted that life here will never get better. In fact, the general attitude could be summed up as one of passive (but begrudging) acceptance.

Also, the women have bigger boobs. What's with that? Hormones in the food?

Anyway, just wanted to get my impressions down, as I'm heading into Glasgow today, so I might get stabbed for not knowing if I'm a Billy or a Tim.

Labour party leadership confidence vote when? Seriously things cannot continue like this until 2029.
Two things which make me believe that some sort of regime change is inevitable and coming soon:

When both the Unions and the EU have doubts about Starmer's ability, and an Irish MEP openly mentions 'change of Government' whilst the numbers are good for Nigel, then things ain't good for Starmer at all.

Whilst the EU are keen to do business with Starmer, they must surely be wondering why he's not doing more to curtail Nigel and to give them the comfort that they will win.
