I don't think the divorce stuff is that deep, it's just that lefties like stories where marriages don't last, especially among straights, because muh deconstruction of values, and jerk off to the idea of TRUE LOVE DOESN'T EXIST NOTHING IS SACRED!
Nah, wokes just hate normal people. Marriage between lesbians is okay. Wokes will scream at you if you call Kris's a guy, but make him a "she", and they won't react.

You're being really optimistic, I would actually love to see a deconstruction of a romance visual novel where instead of weird anime tropes about love (girls throwing themselves at you while squealing) you'll learn to accept a realistic relationship.
Occam's razor says that the far more likely reason is tumblr brainrot, lgbt is le wholesome quirky, straight people are icky. Not any deeper than that

I was actually surprised that Elnina and Lanino were approved by Toby, second happy wholesome straight couple after Dogamy and Dogaressa in his work, ever. Of course they had to get fucked over by too little screen time and an unfunny throuple fight.
I really wish we could've gotten an epic melodrama out of reuniting the lovers, y'know, because it's supposed to be a TV world??? but I guess the tedious Zelda parodies were more important.

I wonder if someone "Snoot Game"s Deltarune if the writing ends up sucking. AU with the same setting and characters except everyone chooses reality over gender delusions. Hopefully it'll not get to that point since we're all here because we love Toby's storytelling, but if the writing is as crappy as Ch3,4 I'll guess we'll just have to await further disappointment.

We all know the "there is only one ending" is bullshit. Calling it now, the ending is gonna be something you see from a 14 year olds fanfiction. The whole "changing the prophecy" trope is SOOOOO over done. Like OBVIOUSLY ralsei isn't going to die. It's just not gonna happen.

Ralsei MAY die, but its just gonna be a generic fake out. Honestly, I hope the ending isn't happy. I want it to be bitter sweet. Or something that'll have you ponder for weeks about it.

The problem with story telling these days, is that people want the same safe shit over, and over again. No one dies, the villian fails, everything goes back to normal, happy ending.

Toby could really be a dick, and just troll everyone by making the dark world a fake, and that everything kris, and susie went through was all in their heads. Then again, the "all in le head" trope is also lazy itself.

The end of the prophecy is almost certainly gonna be something like the heroes having to destroy the dark world to save the light world, then since the light world creates the dark world eventually a new dark world is created, but everyone from the previous one no longer exists.

It would explain everyone's complete reluctance to actually fulfill the prophecy as writ despite it apparently being needed to save both worlds from annihilation, along with Ralsei constantly trying to prime Susie and Kris for him/darkeners not existing anymore and asserting that they're not real and don't matter compared to the gangs real life.

I seriously doubt Toby is really going to stick with the "your choices don't matter, there's only one ending" idea in the end. That'd be gay, le meta themes or not.

I assume that there IS going to be multiple endings, one where you fulfill the prophecy as intended and Ralsei dies/the dark world is reset but the world is saved, one where you force Noelle to take your place in the prophecy so the player can stay in the world afterwards but the new world sucks and no one likes you, and one where you change fate and save everyone probably via being a pacifist and getting all the shards. That's my guess.

As a slight digression from the themes of child neglect and relationship problems, here's a joke that I haven't seen a single person mention before.
There's an upload of the file containing every text string from the game (which is generally pretty fun to skim through), and one of the blocks contains words used in the Queen's "social media" attack. They're pretty unremarkable on their own, unless you look at how they're arranged in the game files:

I feel like the pendulum's starting to swing back on this one. Dunno how to not spoil this in context but I'm going to blindly recommend Clair Obscur to everyone here, it's the one other game along with DR that's stuck in my memory this year and much like DR it oscillates between extremely serious and the dumbest silliest shit you've ever seen on a regular basis. I think it's also the only game I've seen this year that has absolutely zero gay/trans content.

Minor CO spoiler regarding the perception of its plot, which is as vague as you can get while still touching on the imporant part:

CO is notable for directly laying it out that there's no possible way for there to be a storybook ending midway through the game. You go from somewhat engaging silly adventure romp to being locked the fuck in when the game shows its hand due to the sheer unpredictability of the scenario and the last couple hours are just absolute dread because you KNOW any possible resolution to the plot is going to be really, really fucking bad.

Look up the Sonic hedgehog protein.
Call and raise.

>French story
>eliciting feeling of misery and hopelessness and nihilism

Daring today, were they?
I can't properly explain it, but every time I read anything written by a frenchman, they seem to hard pivot into this sort of stuff.
Be it stories, games, or even TTRPGs.
It's like a race genetically incapable of being happy.

Shit, that kind of explains OFF.

Since deltarune is filled with so many lifted mechanics from old games (wall climbing like mario, gameboy zelda levels, etc) I think the later chapters might take place in a destroyed version of the world. Like in Final Fantasy VI. I'm not sure if it would be the light or dark world that is destroyed, though. The light/dark worlds could even merge, like Final Fantasy V, and that will be the terrible calamity the prophecy talks about. This is probally a normie tier take tho because I'm new to the deltarune lore blackhole.

I actually believe the whole "One Ending" thing.
After all, it could all be completely different right up until the final event. That seems pretty Toby.
Technically, UNDERTALE only has one ending anyway; You leave the UNDERGROUND. That's it.
Is that a cop-out?

The idea of an UNDERTALE "Snoot Game" with all of its annoying bits excised is appealing but most creators would probably rather make something original that's just inspired by what they like from UNDERTALE.
Snoot Game is honestly a rare breed but they essentially just used the character designs and vague ideas about the setting to create something completely original.

No, no. That's completely acceptable. It was a fairly common take after Chapter 2 that Toby would be Jade Cocooning us.
I was pretty surprised that it didn't happen in this wave.
