That explains it. I showed the clip to someone who's used many different types of old gas/liquid burners, and he said Chantal's couldn't be kerosene because the flame wasn't quite the right color (which has something to do with how kerosene burns). But if her "kerosene" is actually a mix of fuels instead, it wouldn't look normal.
