I'm more so worried about Trump backing down on other things he ran on along with backing down on the Epstein situation. Backing down on staying out of the Ukraine war and letting them "fight it out" as Trump said before, talking about amnesty for illegals (this is a grey area but it's against what Trump said previously and people are pissed about it regardless), continuing to fund Moderna "spikevax" vaccines for children, promoting neocons, not to mention a lot of the right has started co-opting identity politics to defend these things that could hurt Trump. It really isn't just the Epstein shit that people are upset about.
I think Epstein is a catalyzing point for MAGA as a lightning rod on top of an list of mounting frustrations/uncertainties over the last month or two (though thankfully a lot has been pushed back). Ultimately a lot of people are concerned the victories will be pushed back by subversion and infighting, which is leading to some anger.
- Land sales in the BBB- removed from the bill
- BBB frustrations - a lot of the removed things were mostly fixed by a last minute reprieves
- Amnesty for farm/hotel workers- TBD- big biz and corrupt RINOs are fighting for this hard, and Trump's countersignaling is disappointing but the words from his admin are promising
- Dealing with Neocons- frustrating, but Trump needs their votes and they will need to be cycled out of the system by the people
- Ukraine/Iran/Israel- Trump's move seem to be more of a sleight of hand to satisfy neocons, as his recent moves are largely performative (i.e. Patriots are defense only compared to Storm Shadows/Tauruses). Ideally he would not be involved, but it seems like more horsetrading with the neocons
- Vax for children- Sort of a non-issue as the vax is no longer mandatory, but it symbolizes that the evil of the covid vax has not been defeated yet to a lot of the non-vaxxed
- Tariffs/Industrial policy- TBD
- Judicial coup- ongoing battles, TBD
- Militant left running amok- TBD, will need to be dealt with since the US is already in a low insurgency stage
- Elon- TBD, currently off his Ketamine high
- High deficit spending- people are right to be angry, but it's a case of choosing one's poison, and the current demographics do not allow for the necessary cuts
- ICE and deportations- hopefully ramping up post-BBB, TBD
- Epstein- Trump Admins's first mess up to his base IMO. In normal circumstances Bondi should be sacked for her mishandling of the case, but arguably she is more important in her role at this sensitive time now against the judiciary.
