To be clear, I'm not saying I believe Hasan is smart, I just don't think Destiny is that off from him, as he likes to think.
However, at the least Hasan 100% believe what he says, and doesn't seem to be mentally ill (as Destiny).
I haven't really going too deep into the IQ talk from a few pages back but:
Despite everything that I've seen, at least I personally believe that the Turk's heart is in the right place, yes, even when he's advocating for violence, I believe he does it because he genuinely thinks it will lead to the "better" outcome.
Destiny isn't like that, I don't think his heart is in any place to be honest. I do not think he has any actual beliefs, and his behaviour proves it.
I think, that this difference in beliefs lead the Turk to have "mostly" correct beliefs, even if you want to argue like Rem, that he's "morally lucky", and can sound dumb, very often, while justifying said beliefs.
In contrast, Destiny PURPOSELY will arrive at controversial, and wrongful, beliefs, simply because he wants chaos, drama, and fame. Even if he regularly sounds smarter than Hasan while doing so.
I think that Hasan is the better human overall, and considering that I do not think their intelligence is that far off, then I don't mind it.
Someone some pages back (too lazy to go look for it) mentioned that Destiny must be above average intelligence, because he must at least be one deviation away from Erudite, who is at the most average intelligence. I think I agree with that statement, there's a very clear contrast between Erudite's and Destiny's intelligence.
However, I believe Destiny's is closer to Hasan's, than Hasan's is to Erudite.
You might disagree with me, when first reading that statement, but seriously consider it, can you actually see Erudite talking about politics in any amount of depth as Hasan can? the answer is very obviously no. Even when talking about topics that she's supposed to be versed at she is extremely surface level, and very clearly simply memorizes "pop science" style facts.
Now, as an example, there's Joanna Richards (Jo/TheSillySerious). This is a woman who speaks multiple languages, which aren't closely related to English, is a PHD candidate (if I'm not misremembering), has an incredible memory, curiosity, creative mind, has high verbal IQ, has an incredibly deep amount of knowledge in the topics that she's interested in, and I believe has quite a logical mind, and is able to predict people's behavior incredibly accurately.
I think this is an example of a woman, who's not only very clearly far smarter than Destiny, but also I think she has very likely an IQ of 130+.
Now, I do not think Destiny' is anywhere close to her, despite this obvious fact, Destiny still manages to do well in "debates" with her, in topics that he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, why is that? because of his high verbal IQ.
Destiny is quite literally, the definition of a sophist. It seems irrelevant/dumb, but I think the biggest evidence of how Destiny is genuinely, simply, not that smart, is that in his biggest interest, music, he's genuinely quite mediocre, despite how long he has been doing it.
Smart people aren't like that, they tend to be quite exceptional in things that interest them, even if said interest isn't 1:1 related with intelligence.
People like to bring up Starcraft as a counter to this, but Destiny was only really "great", during a small period of time in which his specific style of playstyle was OP. There's a reason why when the Koreans started to rape everyone he was at least smarter than his peers, and accepted that he wasn't smart enough to keep up with them.
In League he was never able to reach Diamond without getting boosted, or getting help by others.
Same can be said about pretty much every other game he has ever played on stream for hundreds, if not thousands of hours, he's never able to reach the top and constantly stagnates despite his best efforts, or his chat's help.
However, despite saying all that, I don't even know if I believe "IQ" to "exactly" equal "intelligence".
I think it's definitely related to it, but it doesn't encompass the entirety of what makes someone "smart".
