She tried when she wanted to play at the "bad girl" and said she was a fugitive, or when she wanted to act like it was all beneath her and she noped out so she wouldn't have to deal with something so stupid, and hoped to rally support by pretending it was more about personal freedoms (like free speech) rather than cowardice.
But now that the story is that she'd NEVER abandon her "husband" she has to act like she never did; thus she couldn't have passed herself and run from Kuwait, leaving him with the eyes of the law focused on him and his Businessman Business at Business Co.

Suddenly leaving safety and comfort because someone told you "no" seems pretty frigging stupid.
Suddenly treating an active war zone like a weightliss retreat seems pretty ignorant.
Suddenly your money isn't enough to stop your paid boyfriend from pointing out that he had a good life before you waddled in and shit it all up.
So what can she actually do or say at this point? She can't reflect and learn from her actions, she can't admit fault or take responsibility, so she has to deny and fall back on "you guys don't know what happens behind the scenes" which has been her go to since at least the Nadar Arc, if not longer.
*Because nothing is real until it happens to her. Its why she can't empathize with others, why she thinks her suffering is the worst in the world and also why she thinks shes capable of things like traveling the world or everest base camp (if other people can do it so can she because she and if she can't then it means no one can)
That was the first time I realized he uses it to bug her. He knows it’s annoying.
I absolutely believe she told him to stop laughing when people online started making fun of it.
This whole arrangement was so that people (Nadar / Other woman) would be jealous that such a desirable* man would choose her, and thus prove her own worth and desirability as well.
Any and all flaws, or lapses in the scripted "soul mates" narrative makes the whole setup pointless, so in the beginning she was hyper sensitive to any criticism of him and I believe she'd tell him to keep it off camera.
I think this is why he purposely pulls it out when she's already annoyed or getting on his nerves. It's one of his only (passive aggressive) weapons and can easily be downplayed with excuses of it just being his natural laugh or him forgetting he wasn't supposed to.
Now that the gloves are off though and shes ruined his life he will absolutely weaponize it and any other tool he has to dig at her.
* I do not find Salah at all attractive or desirable, I'm simply saying this is what she wanted to present.
Viewing it from this lens makes more sense now in my head and it's not that weird. In Chin's mind this is absolutely a loving act. Probably anytime he touches her, even with a tissue between, she views as him showing his love.
You can see this A LOT with her and Nadar.
He'd outright insult her in public and she'd scream at her audience that he treated her so lovingly in private (before getting angry at him again and saying he treated her even worse in private) and that we didn't know the full story etc etc.
She'd rail on and on about how he never complimented her, never bought her flowers/gifts, how he'd call her fat, make fun of her with his mom, scream at her but he accepted the gifts she brought to him so he MUST live her. He cooked for her (and anyone else who asked) so that's how she knows he loves her. He had sex with her (after she paid him his fee) and she could feel his love (ew) during it so she just knows, guys.
Hell now that I think about it, you can see this behavior when she would "joke" about fast food employees "wanting her" because they accidently gave her an extra sauce, or how a delivery guy was flirting because he asked what flavor of soda she wanted as a substitute when they were out of hers.
I'm not sure if this is a byproduct of her social retardation, her narcissim, her desperation or a mix of it all but it's pretty sad to see the behavior she'll excuse (like cheating or publicly humiliating her) because a guy texts her a heart emoji after she transfers him money.
