When I was in school to get my teaching credential we had to take one class that was essentially ethnic studies in the context of education. (Now basically all student teacher classes are an ethnic studies class with the burden of practical instruction left to active teachers who mentor student teachers, while the college profs undermine every single strategy these mentors use just to get through their lessons, but I digress).
I didn't finish, I became disillusioned quickly but still stuck it out for a couple years before I changed majors. But this kind of tripe basically tracks with my experience, back in the mid-2000s.
