You know what I love most about the internet, it’s seeing commies talk great things about this brave revolution that will save the world or whatever, ever notice how that great revolution is just the rapture for gay nerds?
No, and I hope you're kidding because I don't want to share this planet with someone who thinks "aggravated assault" means "assault somebody because they aggravated you." It varies by jurisdiction but "aggravated" typically means the assault (or rape, or whatever) was extra bad legally because a deadly weapon was employed, or the victim is a kid, etc.
........ have they ever been to the haircair isle in any store ever?
All the shampoos and conditioners, ESPECIALLY for women, have all these fancy/fruity smells that make their head smell good when they come out of the shower. I've had instances with past exs where as soon as they come out of the shower I immediately go "oooooo that smells nice!"
The fact is, construction jobs, manufacturing jobs and LEO / First reponder jobs are more hazardous to life and limb than non-combat service. Yes, working on a flight deck is dangerous. But so is operating a 250 ton press or doing 6 months on an alaskan crab boat. One of them gives you a free ride and public handjobs for life if you lose a hand, the other gives you a one time penance and says "tough shit". That free ride potential and lifetime healthcare makes up for being inconvenienced in basic by doing a lot of running, climbing and pushups.
You don’t need to lose your hand in order to get VA disability. Mild hearing loss, depression, pulling a hamstring, a stroke, nerve damage. Anything goes as long as you can document that it happened in the timeframe where you were enlisted.
And that flight deck stuff? Please. Plenty of vets just do office work or maintenance or anything but what you’d traditionally associate with “being in the army.”
Shit, just go to https://www.reddit.com/r/VeteransBenefits/
And have a read for yourself. “Generalized Anxiety Disorder”? 50-70% disabled, gibs for life and the VA pays all your medications.
It’s a giant welfare machine. From corporate welfare to gibs for Paco who drove a truck for ten years and now is set for life. It’s all on the taxpayers dime, and it’s all totally unnecessary.
I very much remember the demonization of white women as shrill harpies just waiting to call the cops on any random darkie walking down the sidewalk. Or jogging, whatever. I always thought this particular point about the hair was so extra considering a) black women's hair is nasty and there is no way any self-respecting white girl ever really wanted to touch it and b) black girls constantly wanted to brush and play with white girl hair (so, as per usual, they project). They called it doggy hair back when I was in grade school in the 70's, but now they just seethe and say we smell like wet dog when we wash our hair or swim (activities sheboons are allergic to as well).
And that flight deck stuff? Please. Plenty of vets just do office work or maintenance or anything but what you’d traditionally associate with “being in the army.”
I am arguing in good faith. The inclusion of something like active flight deck duty is to demonstrate that I am aware that dangerous, non combat jobs exist in the armed services and valid, legitimate reasons exist for government gibs for some non-combat related disabilities, above and beyond the well known fraud and abuse which needs to be curtailed.
I do this because, as the responses have shown, some people seem to lose their ability to be rational whenever any criticism is placed on Vets. It is almost impossible to have a discussion about people abusing VA services without someone going out of their way to get indignant either on behalf of, or in defense of said enlistment.
I remember a handful of people washing out. A couple people for obvious mental issues and some nigger and a coalburning slut got caught doing shit on the first ftx. You're right about AIT. With all the free time people started doing really stupid shit.
We didn't have any obvious mental issues (unless you count "being an absolute retard" a mental issue. Not my platoon but a guy from that platoon told me they had a guy who didn't know how to shower. Literally did not understand the process, apparently the plan had been to just not wash during BCT and just wait till he he could somewhere with tub. When this plan didn't work because of the utter reek coming off this kid, he had to be autistically instructed by DS on the exact steps of taking a shower.) one guy objectively and rationally realized he made a mistake and couldn't do this for 20 years, a couple of guys who just became idiots for some reason, mostly DS yelled at them wrong. Mostly it was guys realizing TNB was not tolerated in uniform which is when I saw first hand that "Nigger" knows no skin color.
And people naturally did stupid shit in AIT, but the number of guys and girls who had completed BCT and only just then decided "No this isn't for me" made my jaw drop. I get quitting in Basic, there were times I though about quitting, but AIT was chill.
That's what made my experience pretty miserable.
Lots of retarded shit happening (relationship drama leading to weaponized SHARP complaints) from the little bit of freedom gained that for the entire time (5 months) every hour on the dot we had to gather up for headcount formation and my class was night classes so it just felt like an entire lifetime of BS.
Up at 5AM for PT formation.
Up all day for BS formations while day classes were away.
Leave at 5PM for night class.
Come back to barracks at midnight.
Repeat
Oh you were a swing you skating piece of shit. I don't want to hear it.
I wish I could lounge around all day while everything is open instead of having to get passes to miss class or try to cram everything in on saturday.
For mine: They kept you on a company area leash for about 1-2 weeks during the week day to make sure you didn't lose your mind with freedom, then after 3 of good behavior weeks you were given Phase V which meant:
1) Civies allowed after retreat and all day weekend. Swings had their own separate PT formation at like 8, and often it was too hot so they'd get marched to one of the gyms, but after PT Phase V swings were allowed civies until Dinner/School formation.
2) Leave company area without signing in/out as long as you were back by rack time.
3) go off-base during the weekends after signing out as long as you were back by evening accountability or (and jesus christ the number of times people got jacked up for this) you could be out until lights out as long as you told DS and got permission. It didn't even have to be ahead of time "Hey DS Niggerstomper, Its PVT Tardbrain I lost track of time and won't make it back for accountability" "Ok retard. Don't do it again, hooah?" (narrator: PVT Tardbrain would in fact do it the very next week. And the week after. But because he always contacted DS ahead of time he experienced no negative consequences other than getting a light roasting from DS)
then after 6 weeks you got Phase V+ which was all the above but an automatic 48 hour pass every weekend good from the end of Friday's Safety Brief until Sunday PM accountability.

This is because there are a number of "WE ARE FUNDING BABYKILLERS" and/or "Global citizen here, borders and nations should be illegal" retards act like any injured soldier is an affront to good sense, and the impetus is on you to prove you aren't.
Additionally the people affronted by this have never seen the inside of a gym let alone done a physically demanding job so I don't think their opinions about long term physical impacts as such should account for much.
Also people act like its "walk to VA, get gibs" when its usually a long, involved process unless its for something there has already been a lawsuit over, like hearing loss due to defective earplugs.

I think this applies to as many vets who chimp when someone says that maybe the system is fucked. The "thank me for my service" crowd struggles with obesity and beetus.

I've already powerleveled hard so fuck it: I think what you're saying applied mostly to the oldheads before every medical record was digitized. It took me less than 2 months after I clicked some buttons on my computer for me to get my entirely undeserved tugboat.
Phase V's had to deal with the hourly formations stuff too so we didn't have time for that but everybody could get excused to go to the PX if we needed to restock on cleaning and school supplies. We were usually given a couple of hours but the base wasn't that large so we ran there and back to make the most of it.
Buy our shit, munch down on slop or get something from Gamestop, run back.
We weren't allowed to go off base because a few people in the classes before I arrived used that opportunity to go AWOL. There was one black chick of that AWOL group still there during my time and she needed to get escorted everywhere by either any of the Platoon Sergeants or the NCO doing CQ until her out-processing was finalized to kick her out.
I would say that things were mostly normal if you were a holdover post-graduation. You just had to show up for PT formation and once in the afternoon. During the weekdays if you weren't on CQ then you'd do jannie duty at the company footprint or at any of the larger facilities around base. Weekends were free.

That's fair. "Thank me for mopping floors of the day room for a decade while also being too big of a retard to sign up for the GI Bill" are also super annoying but I guess I don't see them too much in the spaces I frequent.

I don't think its changed too-too much, but a lot of it comes down to what you claim, how long you were in, and where you served. Per my example, hearing loss practically gets handwaved to approval to the point I'm not sure why ETS paper work doesn't just include coupons for free hearing aids. Jump wings get you pretty much rubber stamped for back and knee issues - sometimes there's a follow up but usually there's enough records from your time in that its not needed. But other shit is more nebulous and noxious and requires multiple exams and boards.
and when they aren't just cutting you a check, the medical system is shall we say inefficient at providing care.
Again, this isn't to dispute the fact there are a lot of social ticks getting undeserved benes. Especially since many times the checks are effectively meant to keep people from entering the VA ssytem for care.
tl;dr:I'd rather see fewer checks and better hospitals.

The fuck that's gay.
There was no hourly formations for ours. Do you late chill as fuck PT, fuck off and do whatever in your civies clothes (mostly sleep) till 4 unless you had duty. Pick up your cleaning, go to the boot man, go get lunch in your civies. There was strictly speaking a Phase IV lunch formation but it was only Phase IVs and only fuckups who fucked up enough to lose privileges were Phase IV and swing shift.
Phase IVs were given "company area" privileges (which included the nearest shopette) and two hour passes when signing out. Phase V's were just expected to know when formations were and to be back for them. And missing one usually just put you on CQ duty and maybe some light pushing.
Our Post-grads would get work party assignments, most were over by noon.
Mine was some document shredder - about a dozen people. We weren't allowed to touch the documents without permanent party present, so you'd chill for an hour until they showed up and unlocked the cage. Pull out paperclips and binder clips, put the paper in a laundry cart. When it was full, call over the NCO and he'd push it to the industrial shredder and have it dumped in. That was it. Dismissed back to company area.
My first day: I showed up. one of the other soldiers had a plasma donation appointment, I was told to battlebuddy him. He had been scheduled wrong, they had to wait anothe rday before he could donate. We called back to the place, SNCO told us to not bother coming back. Go to lunch, report back to company area.
for this stellar performance, It was specifically requested that I return for more shifts. (send us the guy you sent us last time)
The next day they sent us back to out companies at 10am because it was too hot. I was again specifically requested to return. Our NCO handler called us "one of his best groups" and expressed sadness we would be departing before much longer and he was certain to get another lot of fuckups.
Again, "there are number of complete retards in uniform and procedures and processes are written with the lowest IQ denominator in mind" is not the same as "all the military is government gibs and daycare"
But other shit is more nebulous and noxious and requires multiple exams and boards.

I do think vets facing legitimate have a harder time. Almost every disabled female vet I met is getting close to 100 (if not that) percent for some psychological disorder. Good luck trying to prove that they weren't a bpd hoe before the service without getting called a sexist.
Again, this isn't to dispute the fact there are a lot of social ticks getting undeserved benes. Especially since many times the checks are effectively meant to keep people from entering the VA ssytem for care.
Getting a percentage is what gets you into the VA system, though. Even if the hospitals are shit, which hasn't been my experience but I've heard the complaints. I guess I kinda agree with you that I'd rather see less gibs and better care for the vets that deserve it. Those are usually the guys that get left out in the cold.
To tl;dr this and end my involvment in this spergent:
If you have a legit, serious medical issue even a 100% at 2-3K a month is usually not enough to cover how much dealing with it fucks your life and you have to spend if you can't wait for the VA to treat it.
If you are shamurai faking it because you are a grifter moving back to the ghetto on section 8, $300 a month for a 10% is a lot of money (and usually doesn't count against you getting whatever for welfare).
Atleast they're producing food/drink, a lot of the kibbutz have Evangelicals making munitions. Imagine pilgrimaging to the holy land only to make semtex for the IDF to use to blow up inbred retard browns.
