Mega Rad Gun Thread

didn't care for the stock that the factory SBR/SMG/rifle version of the Gen 3 comes with
sorry, i meant the 3rd iteration of the prototype TDI vector, prior to the commercial releases. there was the skeletonized "Kriss SMG", an iterative design with magpul, the "Kriss Super V" (of which there were two, and they were all-tan, and the modified iteration of the Super V that became the Kriss Vector SMG (which had a black painted "upper" and different barrel and extraction mechanism for reliability with 200gr +P). the one pictured is the last prototype marketed to the military prior to the CRB production runs in 2009.

The last bit of my birthday gifts arrived tonight: a MagPul DAKA LR53 case. It's super nice and built like a tank. I really dig the LEGO style block system. Way better than trying to cut one of those foam sheets to shape, like you find in other cases like Pelican. I'm just messing around with it right now, haven't decided on the exact configuration yet. I'll probably get some of the other block sets, and maybe even a suppressor pouch and their small parts boxes. I'm definitely going to get their short case one day for the Vector.

I have the DAKA Grid set for the Pelican Vault long case. Nice stuff and kinda fun to Tetris as much shit as possible into the case.

The little storage boxes are a nice add-on for holding small shit like tools and cleaning gear.

Yeah, I'll probably get the box kit that has the two 2x2 boxes and one 2x4 box to keep like an Otis Ripcord, a little thing of solvent, and maybe some grease or something. I'll probably get the angled block set and the v block barrel rest set as well. I think the DAKA stuff, especially their cases and grid system kits for other case manufacturers, are some of the best products MagPul has come up with. It's kinda cool to see how far they've come from their beginnings making rubber slip-on dongles that make it easier to pull out stuck magazines from your weapon.

I'm in the market for a Glock 19C for some reason, and I'm waffling over just buying a complete one (Gen 3), or building one out of a 19C upper onto a Gen 5 lower. The difference is about $150 or so, but the Glock Store has colored lowers for a wildcard, so anything I build will be on either a tan or green lower, because reasons. The Glock Store also has Gen 3 OD lowers in stock, so that's an option, too. I was really leaning towards the Gen 3 until I handled one again compared to a 5, I really forgot how fucking slippery the Gen 3 texture is. The groves on the 19 aren't nearly as obtrusive as on the 17, imho.

I'd just get a complete Gen 3 G19C, but I'm the kind of guy that doesn't get the tricked out custom Glocks with anodized triggers, decorative striker covers and more slide serrations then a set of Ginsus that I see in the case at the big gun stores. As for the grip texture, everyone is hickok45 now, gotta have a gun that will practically stick to your hands when you hold them out palm down. If the Gen3 texture is too slick for you there's always those laser cut pieces of grip tape, though I've personally never had an issue with Gen3s even my G26. The finger lands are a little narrow I guess, but between those and the blocky back strap I find them plenty grippy. Gen1 may be an issue if you like to roll in the mud and pretend you're in boot camp or something.

Now we have guns with grips that are too aggressive. I found the springfield hellcat grip uncomfortable after a while because of how small the radii from the sides to the backstrap are combined with the sandpaper-like grip texture. I bet if you carried one in a holster that put the grip against your side or stomach it would chafe after a while.

By "build" I mean "with factory Glock parts" because Glocks work better with Glock parts. I really like my Gen 4 grip texture, so in the mean time I may just get a 19C upper and slap it on my Gen 4 and call it good for now.

I'm leaning real hard towards one of those OD Gen 3 frames from the Glock store, though.

ETA:
I have learned that the Glock store will machine your Gen 4 19 slide and barrel with the OEM style "C" cuts for $150, with a 10 day turnaround. So I'm sending my Gen 4 G19 slide in on Monday.

Picked up this lightly used Smith and Wesson M&P Shield Plus Carry Comp (what a mouthful). Added a green Holosun EPS Carry green circle dot.

I think the compensator helps, should be a fine niggerblaster for years to come
I prefer a 12 gauge niggerchopper over a niggerblaster.

No, I don't want a Radian Ramjet, fuck you for suggesting that. Imagine needing tools for basic maintenance on a hand gun, miss me with that bullshit.
A Glock is a Glock. Police trade ins are like $300. I don't see a difference between comp/non-comp.

Compensated is kind of a misnomer since they have a ported barrel and cut slide, not a compensator. Regardless, it's just a neat thing to have as a range toy, since ported barrels and to a lesser extent compensators are just not a good idea for a carry gun since they have a good chance of blowing debris or at least gasses at you at high velocity if you have to shoot from any position but the ideal, and are significantly louder for the shooter. NFG, getting debris or gasses blasted in the direction of your skin or worse, eyes, during a defensive encounter.

been charting some prospective firing lanes on public land. state recently bought some 5,000 acres of reclaimed mine land for hunting land.
I've got a target stand that uses a 2x4 to hold a steel plate aloft. Long range shooting opportunities are very rare in Kentucky. Any where that isn't farmland or actively managed are dense temperate rain forest type environs. on my property i think the longest sight line is 50 yards.

Good luck, buddy. I wish to God I didn't have to drive two hours for a decent 300 yard range. I've gotten away with shooting on some old strip jobs, but there's not really time to measure everything so it's not very scientific.

do fowl chokes exist? I might buy a single barrel 28-30 inch 12g off gunbrokers if I can't find one for my cz 712 gen2 20 inch.

Are you looking to hunt ducks, or geese, or dove? Also apparently since I last went duck hunting with dad and my brothers there are a ton of specialty chokes that are supposably one size fits all. However back in my day we argued to no end about which was best out of modified, improved, or full, and which was best for which load and if bismuth or tungsten was the best substitute for lead. As for the CZ supposably benelli chokes work and you can find those on amazon or in walmart and the walmart ones worked fine for us although dad did shake his head a lot at our choices.

If your barrel can take chokes I don't see why it couldn't take a Cremator or something. You'd be likely looking for full choke since that gets you the furthest range. You can try looking for modified as well but it depends on your use case and expected ranges. Are you shooting them while passing or shooting them over a decoy?

Will try and remember that the Daka grid can be purchased for non Magpul cases

Magpul went from Mag grippers to making USMC issued magazines and a plethora of other firearm stuff.

Absolutely awesome 😎

I like the bubba mosin to much to sell it. But you said you own 8 mosins which is your favorite.
Well, tbh.. my M44, my first. It's got a story so grab a cup of tea.

My last year of my PhD was brutal, I had just went through a horrible break up, I was alone in an apartment I couldn't afford. I was working 12+ hours a day that was writing and sitting in the stacks.. I couldn't afford to drink my suffering away.

My little free time I started shit posting on /k/ and the memes were huge. I wanted to get one and cleary was poor... but found a MINT M44 Izzy made Russian and it was like 200 dollars... back when 91/30s were 80 or less... so this was a pricy boy at the time. (I couldn't tell you what carbines went for on avg) but this was great clean bore shiny wood...

Like I was not good, and my dad was kind enough to listen to the memes how these are the coolest and being an engineer he was baffled I wanted this slave labor junk stick because memes. Also back then you could get nugget food for 20 cents or less.

Shop I used to hit was pretty light stock and over all small.. no 91/30s no other mosins... I wanted me a "Moo-Scene" and this beaut, was there... I bought it and either they wavied the transfer fee or my dad covered it tbh.

She shoots like a dream to this day. Also I hope my word holds something but there's a rumor/urban myth Mosins were sighted in with the bayonet out.. mine shoots better as such. Plus the bayonet on an M44 is attached to the gun.

I've got a few of anything, including my first tax stamp an Oberz (there's a video of me trying to skeet with it) I've got a scout, a hex... finns.. but my M44 did two major things aside being a great collecter gun (now probably worth what 700?) It made me "cool" online and made me really look into mil surp and being so lucky to get something good.

On all of this aside, again friday the smith thing, I'm really amped. I am into stuff and done a lot but I don't show it I promise I am humble and will learn a lot and have a great time.

We'll redo one of my beater ARs clean up my Makarov and chat..he's a great guy and I'm blessed to have this sit down and chill session. I won't be the next Sandwich kin but for a lame office monkey and collector I'm pretty decent building shit and gonna get better.

I hope all my gun frenz are doing well and enjoying the hobby. Remember guns kick ass but ... jk fuck family and frenz acquire more gunz. Lose your loser GF buy a hipoint and wrap it in a cool old tobacco livery also make it full auto illegally.

I found a company that makes something so stupid it will make your head hurt.

What is the point of this. I can't imagine at all who the market is for this when there are 1 trillion AR-style 22s and 22 plinkers for sale and 22 takedown rifles like the Henry AR-7 on the market.

Am I retarded or is this the most nonsensical shit ever?

Why is there a proprietary, 1-fucking-round 22lr magazine? Who is this for? What does "designed for the safety of gun enthusiasts" mean? Is this the type of rifle you bring when you are going on a hunting trip with Dick Cheney?
