Something kinda surreal happened to me during a trip a few months back and I still don’t know what to make of it.

I was on a bus heading back from the ESL learning center. Regular day. Halfway through the ride, this girl gets on. She was probably around my age, had pale skin, like glowing pale, black hair, thick-rimmed glasses - not round, not square, some weird shape that accentuated her bright blue A10 eyes. She looked like a model from the pages of a fashion catalog or something to that effect.

Anyway, she sits right next to me (albeit the bus was half empty, so I don’t know why). Is it really possible that a girl like that would be obsessed with me? I kept glancing at her like an idiot, and then she turns and catches me. I freaked out internally (I'm very self-conscious and unsociable due to internalized racism). Instead of being annoyed, she just says, “you can put your hand here,” and pats her lap. Seriously.
Obviously i did it. Felt like i was dreaming or being pranked.

Then she takes out her phone, puts some little piece of paper over my brown hand (the paper was covered in incomprehensible English writing i couldn’t really read due to being an ESLgod), and she takes a picture of it. She leaned in a little as she did it, and I could smell a faint scent of cocoa emanating from her hair.

I was about to ask her what her favorite anime was, but right then the bus stopped. She stood up, saying “thanks” as she left.

And that was it. She’s gone. It's over.
