He claims to have always worn them and that the teachers were changing his diapers. Recently he's been saying that the managers at McDonald's changed his diaper on the job. He said the main manager made him stand in the office and practice taking his diaper on and off instead of working. Andy is so disconnected from the real world he thinks this kind of thing actually happens. There's no way in hell a fast food manager, or any manager, is going to make you practice and help changing your diaper while you're on the clock. It's delusional.

He then dropped out, likely due to people rightly making fun of him for smelling like shit all the time. Andy can't handle it when people aren't paid to take his abuse. After that he likely wore them off and on, but he didn't obsessively NEED them until he was 28 and he comited to the whole baby act.

His dad's also yelled at him in the past for using an entire roll of TP when he takes a shit.

To be fair, at least Tom and Jan fostered some interest in getting Andy help, just not the help he needed. They may not have enabled Andy as much as the Chandlers, but they enabled him more than they should have.

Andy's brain chemistry was also very messed up before he was even born, thanks to a combination of bad genetics and Jan's poor health and eating habits, but their enabling of Andy's delusions certainly turned Andy into the spoilee, entitled manchild he is today.

It can also go the other way around, Joel Guy jr had goos genetics, was highly intelligent, but his mom raised him into a spoiled manchild and he became what he is now thanks to it.

Good parenting could've prevented that.

I'm gonna try to be the voice of reason here which seems to be impossible for most Kiwis but in terms of Thomas Ditch lore he may not be the most modest citizen but he didn't deserve to deal with Andy's antics and he doesn't deserve to be excluded from his others children's lives let alone not be allowed to attend his daughters wedding or walk her down the aisle.
