HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Gov. Josh Green is considering a potential presidential campaign.
During an interview at the National Governors Association meeting in Colorado last week, Green told NBC News he hasn’t made up his mind about the future, but that he’d be happy to help get someone elected and added, “I might even become a potential candidate, but only if I’ve actually done a good job.”
Green is a former emergency room physician who was elected governor in 2022, more than a decade after entering state politics. He was among seven democratic governors to attend the summit in person.
If Green did enter the race, either as a candidate himself, or to help elevate other democratic candidates, he acknowledged that it would be a crowded race, estimating that there could be between 10 to 12 democrats entering the 2028 primary.
“I believe we’re going to have to heal this country in 2028, and maybe beyond, because there’s a lot of conflict that’s been going on, and not just during the Trump era. So someone may want a healer,” Green said.
