A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

This is always bullshit. Both sides take power and use it's authority to push further into the ideology. Acting like the left hates power and it's illegitimate when they do it is like a child crying when they get punched in the mouth for trying to bully another kid. This is the end game of all left wing ideology. An open borders where everyone is everything and nothing so it's all equal slop.

"I'm a classic liberal" means you're wanting to set up the dominoes for diversity 2 to target your great grand kids.

Classic Liberalism has at it's core, the belief that all human beings are blank slates at birth; that we are created with no preconceived differences beyond the immediately superficial. This is fundamentally incorrect. Anything that flows from this, is therefore fundamentally incorrect. You can have classic liberalism work, only if you add in 'But only for the British' or 'Only for the Swedish' onto everything.

Idk what the fuck happened last night honestly. All I remember is getting drunk and then it was fucking 6am and the sun was up. At some point I ended up in some normie shithole talking about immigration and specifically Ireland. Very true, though there are those 'rare unicorn' type Liberals who can see the danger of losing their culture as it would impact on them directly.

This. Liberalism itself is flawed, and the utopia seeking is at the core of the philosophy. The British State isn't pretending to be liberal. It IS Liberal. If all men are created equal and have equal inherent value, then a boat nigger that arrived in the UK yesterday is no less valuable then someone who was born in the UK to a family that traces its ancestry back to fucking Boudecia.

In fact pointing out the natives have a greater claim to the land the boat niggers is an inherently illiberal concept. Anyone who believes that cant by definition be liberal, because it betrays a core belief value of the philosophy. Its why the government hates nativists so much.

They'd need to focus on quality over quantity. Also it's not like they'd lose income since the state is shouldering the burden of loans anyway. They might have to — heaven forbid! — downsize and be more selective about what courses they have on offer.

A few people I know hold to the (correct) stereotype that Muslims are either creepy or pervy, mostly girls. My aunt once walked home, drunk enough that she wobbled, because she didn't want to risk getting in an uber or taxi with one. The main thing holding a lot of Britons back is that not enough people are aware of the stats, and don't believe or remain ignorant to the fact their culture/religion inclines them towards rape - just a few bad apples. Though I think more and more people are just generally adopting the opinion that "they're bad" in general, at least the men.

"If they knew they could get away with it, they would rape you," is something I ought to drop in heated conversations in the issue, because I feel it would apply regardless of the listener's sex.

That will be an epic failure.

One of the local Universities near me had specialist undergraduate courses for students to join the local Police force after graduation.

Over 80% of the graduates quit within two years, because they 'couldn't hack it' and it was 'too hard a job to do'.

If they have to actually graft, they'll run a mile - they believe that they are entitled to WFH as a Civil Servant and can clock off for lunch and that work finishes at 3pm.

Tell them 'no, that's not how it is' and the shirkers will refuse to do the course.

It just astounds me. I would sort of get it if she took a picture of a gun and she hadn't seen one before. These are boxes of ammo in a case. The packaging is very drab and boring most of the time, don't want kids screwing around with it and all that, and its not going to go off unless the building is on fire. I'm too much of a burger to get this man. It don't make sense to me.
