I will admit that it was weird of Tucker to pretend that he never knew his father was involved in intelligence operations, if not the CIA directly. Voice of America was obviously a propaganda campaign meant to influence the people living behind the Iron Curtain.

Having said that, and I'm not sure many of you are old enough to remember this, but Voice of America during the Cold War was very public and not secretive at all. The American people knew what VOA was, and pretty much overwhelmingly supported it. Most people at the time would not have considered it part of the CIA, which was usually associated with espionage, dirty tricks, and worse.

So perhaps this is how Tucker might want to explain his contradictory statements - that he grew up thinking his father was involved in "good" intelligence operations like VOA, and not "bad" intelligence operations like the CIA.
