Looked more into Abbot’s plan regarding vacating legislators seats, since it was something I didn’t know much about and was somewhat surprised our governor had that power.
It’s actually much more interesting and ingenious than I thought. He doesn’t have the power to declare them vacated, which makes sense from a separation of powers perspective. Instead he has to direct the AG to sue in the appropriate district court to get them declared vacated. So at 3:00 PM today they’ll file suit (I’d imagine they already drafted up the pleadings, just waiting for filing time). Legislators will then either have to come back here and defend themselves, at which point the sergeant at arms and rangers can tard wrangle them back to the capitol. Or they stay away, and even if they hire lawyers to represent them, it’s not exactly a “good look” to refuse to show up to proceedings when your accused of abandoning the state and your job. Very interesting play, puts the dems in a damned if you do damned if you don’t type situation.

I’ve also attached the relevant AG opinion which Abbot is relying on for those curious.
I expect the TX Covernor thing is a bluff but I guess we'll know in a couple hours.

Say he follows through and gets to replace all the absent legislators based only on the TX AG's opinion letter. The Dems will file a dozen lawsuits and now the TX legislature is totally crippled. Anything the replacement leg does will be seen as illegitimate depending on the ruling, appeal and eventually the SC. So two years or so of nothing getting done in TX? The Dems are probably perfectly fine with that outcome vs. losing 5 House seats.

The solution to being blackpilled about shit like this is to simply accept the fact that AIPAC has and will continue to have outsized influence over both political parties and to stop caring about the Palestinians. Which really shouldn't be hard, they're a bunch of mudslime lunatics who'd happily see you stoned to death for some trivial reason or another, so why give a fuck if they die?
They kill each other anyway

Alright im black pilled again

Technically, a state or city can’t decide foreign policy, as it’s in the constitution.
Article I, Section 10, Clause 1:

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.
This is more fully expanded upon in the Federalist Papers

The federal government will always have more say on foreign policy because it creates instability otherwise.

Don't know the best place to post this since there's no articles yet, so posting this here. Federal California Judge ordered Workday Incorporated to produce a list of all their customers who use their AI to decide whether to approve or deny job applications

That's pretty cool. I'll edit my resume with AI jailbreaking code and send it to those companies.

Remember when FEMA was denying disaster relief aid to people who had Trump flags in their yards? Remember how terrible it was that the government was persecuting people for exercising their First Amendment rights? Yeah, me neither.

Also there's nothing wrong with boycotting goods and services from the nation of Israel.

I did some brief checking and it looks like this Mobley character is accusing the AI of being racist...lol.

Here’s some welcome news. Normal people don’t read the reports excreted by the United Nations — as even the UN admits:

Most of the 1,000+ reports produced each year by the United Nations are barely read, according to the organization’s own study into how to make its work more “impactful and coherent.”

The world can be thankful that reports produced by the neoliberal apparatchiks comprising the UN are not more impactful — that is to say, damaging.

According to a report released Thursday, the Secretariat published 1,100 reports last year – a 20% increase since 1990 – and supported 27,000 meetings involving 240 entities. …

Many of these reports are not widely read.

Now for the bad news. The pernicious reports are largely funded by American taxpayers whether anyone reads them or not.

You can Quench, basically sending off all the liquid helium in the air (outside). Magnet loses it's cooling and slowly power down
The magnetic field will gradually lower but it's not instantaneous. Refuelling the MRI can take weeks and cost a shitload with current helium price, so it's a last ditch thing.

This should never have happened and the tech is gonna get sued into oblivion, maybe get some prison time for egregious negligence
The man should not have been there. Tech and patient only in the prep area, unless the patient is deaf mute, needs an interpretor etc. Door closed unless the tech is there, and fucking NOBODY enter the magnet room unless the tech has questionned and basically stripped them down of anything metal.
Oh, so it's not a giant electromagnet? You can tell I know zippo about how these things work.

Why I am not surprised that it’s outrage taxpayer money going into this damn organization.

What would they sue over? They’d just raise the argument that the interpretation of the law is wrong as a defense in proceedings. While I’m not entirely sure you can counter-claim an injunction against the AG filing a lawsuit, it would still all be part of the same proceedings. And again, once they’re in the state, the rangers have legal authority to make them come to the capital. At which point the AG could dismiss the lawsuits, and dems would have no standing to sue since there’s no injury in fact, and Texas courts don’t issue advisory opinions.

Anything the replacement leg does will be seen as illegitimate depending on the ruling, appeal and eventually the SC. So two years or so of nothing getting done in TX? The Dems are probably perfectly fine with that outcome vs. losing 5 House seats.
Do you mean SCOTX or SCOTUS?

Bros...
This is mostly going to screw Democrats anyway, so who cares?
I've been willing to trust the plan through a lot, but if I were a chimp out kinda guy this is probably the one thing I'd chimp out on. The indiscriminate impact of natural disasters on American citizens is more important than the GDP they generate for Israel. This is that classic Trump spite being misused for no good reason.

If I understand Abbott's position it's that he's going to immediately replace them based on an opinion of an existing law. There won't be any court proceedings. If true there'll will be tons of lawsuits and injunctions flying. They won't have to shop for a judge either.

Who the Hell knows? That's why it feels like a bluff while tossing red-meat to the people who just want to hear words.

Do you mean SCOTX or SCOTUS?
Both?
