I think there is a pretty good chance they would still hate us, since Islam basically teaches that non-Muslims are beneath Muslims and should be killed and conquered. Besides, America would still be a huge superpower, which would likely draw ire from Muslims.
An article I've read portrays Sayyid Qutb as a proud devout Muslim so he probably was never going to be happy with his trip to America since no matter what it would seem like an alien place compared to his homeland. It could also be argued his rage against it was just a way to cope with the fact Egypt and the Islamic world in the 1940s was politically irrelevant on an international level.

Whether they hate us or not is irrelevant, there are plenty of people who hate America and Americans all around the world but we don't just let them traipse into the country. The entire point is this - if Muslims are the threat that you say they are (I have no reason to disagree) then there is no good reason for them to be in the country. Impose a total travel ban on Muslims immigrating to the United States and bar them even from visiting on a temporary basis. That Islam does teach that non-Muslims are beneath Muslims just proves my point even more. Whatever moderate voices there are in the Muslim world they are quickly drowned out by the hordes of Salafist and Wahabbist preachers who want to 'purge' all innovations from Islam and keep it in the early medieval era.
