Luke's probably Linus's lowest-paid employee judging from his living conditions (excluding the endless horde of Pakis and 'Jeets that he only has on payroll for two weeks before they're cycled out), he's too buckbroken to ever leave.
It really feels like the beginning of the end for the Linus channel. It's hard to tell if all these people are leaving because of the new CEO or the companies finances are just that fucked to begin with.
What is another possibility is that because of coworkers leaving people are starting to realize the job isn't that great and they're putting in passion amounts of effort for something they have no ownership or say in. So even when it comes to people who seem stuck there they could end up getting unstuck and leaving eventually.
It kind of feels like what will happen to Mr.Beast's empire at some stage - people will outgrow wanting to watch these personalities and the whole "epic PC gaming build" thing got so commercialized because of Linus' channel (at least in part) to begin with. Great that attracts sponsors and products and all sorts of shit but it also means there are a thousand channels out there every day starting out who do the same fucking thing.
I haven't watched an LTT video in years it feels like and not because I actively avoid them so much as I just stopped giving a shit about anything they had to offer. GPU reviews are fucking boring, CPU reviews are fucking boring, PC cases are fucking boring. I think the whole "PC gamer" market reached its peak and is going to head into a decline (besides the LTT channel itself). People don't have that much money anymore and the desire/point of having cutting edge computers has largely dissolved (much like owning every new smartphone is pointless, they all already run everything).
The same thing applies to his smart home shit. Sure 5-10 years ago wifi lights and curtains were interesting, now everyone can buy that shit on Amazon. A projector? LCD OLED whatever screen? who gives a fuck, everyone has it.
It feels like in the enthusiast PC space there is no more "cutting edge" to be found and its just mediocre improvements on shit. There's no more market for aftermarket expansion slots of super fast NVMe drives because everything is superfast. The whole market has been fully saturated - what interest do I have in seeing an 800w PSU vs a 1200w PSU? Sure a stupid expensive PC build is interesting sometimes but LTT got his mileage out of this and its exhausted.
Same goes for phones, smart home shit, PCs, laptops, bluetooth headphones, sound systems, cameras - its all boring because it all does everything pretty well unless you buy some chink shit that is $3 on Temu or AliExpress. What are they going to do? Review the new iphone that is the same as the past 10 iphones? a new GPU that doesn't actually do anything new or different?
When was the last GPU/gaming innovation really? raytracing? I can't think of anything else.
Same goes for gaymer keyboard and mice - they all do what they say they will do and there are 1000 different manufacturers.
