What's the deal with South Park? I though they were canceled in 2020.
Breadbassket linked an article already but, basically, Trey and Matt's contract with Paramount is coming to an end and Paramount (which owns Comedy Central) is fucking around with Trey and Matt's contract negotiations.
South Park is a massive property and Paramount doesn't want to lose it from their library.
I honestly don't blame Trey and Matt since CC/Paramount is legendary for its sheisty legal contracts. They famously stole money from Dave Chappelle when his show made way more money than Paramount expected and they refused to pay him what they owed by saying because the show was more successful than expected in the original contract negotiation, Dave had to re-negotiate and accept less money. Dave said fuck you, pay me, so Paramount famously tried smearing Dave
by saying he was a crackhead and ran images of Dave as the Tyrone character from his show as if that was really Dave. Paramount kept making money off Chappelle's Show for years and it wasn't until Dave asked people to boycott streaming services that Paramount
called him, gave him license back for his show, and paid him what he was owed.
Paramount had to pay off Trump for their notorious
60 Minutes smear job, which Trey and Matt know infuriates Paramount execs and talent, so they're killing two birds with one stone by mocking Trump and Paramount caving to his lawsuit.
