The rise of China, manufacturing disappearing. That was all by design, promoted by the exact same neocons (and corporations) who are telling Trump that he “needs to be tough on Russia” and “punish India” for not going along with their retarded sanctions.
None of this changes anything. We don't live in the past we live in the present.
You know what businesses love? Predictability.
You know what results in predictability?
Shipping lanes which 80% of international trade travels on being open, maritime security being enforced, a military that can actually solve problems in the world, a reserve currency, a massive consumer market for dumping excess capacity... all things that there is precisely
one nation on earth capable of providing without a remotely close second.
This is what it all comes down to for me. Since the fall of the soviet union the US has been babysitting the entire international system on our dime, our blood, our stress, our land, and getting essentially
nothing in return for it. We have so much leverage that no president has ever used other than the war on terror. And despite having all this leverage, every nation on earth treats us like an IV drip and colostomy bag at the same time.
This isn't only unsustainable for us, it's unsustainable for the world. The system we've been operating on
can not go on forever and the system refuses to change itself because that's how systems work.
My long term hope with all of this is that we will come back to something more reasonable, but in order to make that happen we needed to show the world where our fucking lines are. Anybody who has been in a relationship, a family, a father, a store manager or hell a dog owner or even leader of a high school group project understands this. Sometimes you have to raise your voice freak out to show people you mean business,
if they think your gaping anus is the path of least resistance then they will take it.
