It's either a plot device in a novel or STO, I can't remember which. Maybe even both. The lost Dominion fleet could be a very, very interesting plot device.
Just watched 31 this morning and I'm still recovering. First, Michelle Yeoh is a terrible actress, like porn-tier, but she looks good in skin-tight black leather. As for the movie, I can't believe how un-Star Trek it was, and I don't even really like Star Trek all that much. It was 90 minutes of quipping, swearing, torturing, and characters trying to out-weep each other over how bad their lives were. And everyone talked like they were from 2025; there was a character who said shit like "I love that for us" and "You're a bad bitch."More like "could have been done". I think "Section 31" is about the best the current crop of shit writers/producers can do. I think if anything, "The Orville" is closer to the roots of TOS/TNG than any of the NuTrek garbage out there now.
I'm continually amazed how many newer shows are just "reboot/rework" of old IP, except they strip away everything that makes it important. It's like Alex Kurtzman sat down and said: "What if we did a Trek show, but go heavy on action, light on philosophy, make all the characters irreverent, abandon the Prime Directive, throw in lots of fights, sex and quirky catch phases?"
From the little I've seen of Section 31, it doesn't seem to leverage anything that was Star Trek. Why doesn't Alex Kurtzman and friends just launch a new show called "Cool Space Buddies" and he's not bound by the behaviors and aims of the old show? It's like people forgot how to create new characters and can only race and gender swap existing ones.
FtfyYou know what would have been a kino last arc for DS9?
>4000 Jem Hadar warships pour out of the Wormhole
>Gul Dukat is at the head
>he broadcasts to DS9, "ATTENTION BAJORAN WORKERS! "
Now THAT would have been awesome.
Section 31 is the kind of plot point that needs subtlety and nuance in it's writing to do justice, along with an understanding of human nature and what the actual cost of a "paradise" would be. Understanding that the wholesome chungus post-scarcity galactic community Roddenberry vision of the future would have a cost. That to even have those ideals, and survive, you would need to break them when necessary.Just watched 31 this morning and I'm still recovering. Everyone who pretended to like Picard Season 3 because some bought and paid for grifter told you to should hang their heads in shame for inflicting this on us.
Also I would have loved to see a gigantic space battle with all the Fleet that was resting at DS9 and Bajor fighting the Jem Hadar warships so Sisko can make a line for Dukat's flagship with the Defiant. The lost Dominion fleet could be a very, very interesting plot device.
Reminds me of when In a Mirror Darkly used a lost ship from TOS as a plotpoint. The lost Dominion fleet could be a very, very interesting plot device.
Discovery, Lower Decks, and the movie just don't getSection 31 is the kind of plot point that needs subtlety and nuance in it's writing to do justice, along with an understanding of human nature and what the actual cost of a "paradise" would be. Just imagine some captain in charge of patrolling the Neutral Zone in the USS Ben Franklin, only to see a lost Starfleet vessel being escorted by several Romulan Warbirds.I also think the Romulan hypernova wouldn't have happened since the Voyager was probably going to fly thru the Romulan Star Empire at one point anyhow and they would have used science and shit to fix it.
I think a couple years back I caught Last Christmas, and Michelle Yeoh was in it, so naturally when she showed up I legit groaned out loud in front of everyone because I’m so conditioned to seeing her in trash, but here she was the best thing in the movie. I’ve come to the conclusion that the Mirror Georgiou character is unsalvageable. The performance goes beyond hammy since that’s literally the only way she can try to entertain the audience at this point.Michelle Yeoh is a terrible actress, like porn-tier,

I haven't seen any promos or descriptions, will the incoming Star Trek Strange New Worlds be about something or a gimmick and lame interpersonal interactions of the crew.
Also, will Spock fuck?
Isn't that called The Expanse? Can you imagine if there wasn't FTL tech in Star Trek, so it's just sleeper ships, interstellar arks, or relativistic slower-than-light spaceflight -- instead of warp drive?

Yeah... imagine....Can you imagine if there wasn't FTL tech in Star Trek, so it's just sleeper ships, interstellar arks, or relativistic slower-than-light spaceflight -- instead of warp drive?
Does The Expanse have interstellar travel?Isn't that called The Expanse?
Interplanetary. Because if it were interstellar, generations would pass in between systems. It takes 5 months of cryo status for the crew of Discovery One to get to Jupiter.Does The Expanse have interstellar travel?
(And remember a time when you could play Star Trek YT clips in embeds on other sites? Kiwi Farms remembers.)Enkarashaddam 4 years ago said:Janeway vs COVID 19, 2021 colorized
With relativistic, it could be just a few years for nearby systems and generations for further away, while onboard that ship it could be much shorter, because time dilation.Because if it were interstellar, generations would pass in between systems.
Not really sure why the full thing didn't post, but the point I was trying to make is that the modern Trek shows believe Section 31 is just Starfleet with bigger guns instead of a top secret black ops section of Starfleet.Discovery, Lower Decks, and the movie just don't get
It was a plot device in STO, with the Prophets could only temporarily shift the fleet for X amount of time and the time was up. Player character had to retrieve that female founder from the Federation holding facility 4028 to get the fleet to stand down. Not too much combat as the Federation, KDF and Free Romulan Republic did not want to chance restarting the war with all of the Dominion. Saving grace was the "lost" Dominion fleet was wary of starting shit until they figure out wtf happened and weren't going to do anything until they got orders from the female founder. It's either a plot device in a novel or STO, I can't remember which. Maybe even both.
I haven’t seen the show apart from the first season, but I read all the books. The answer is ‘Yes. Kinda. Sorta’. But not sure if they got that far in the show.Does The Expanse have interstellar travel?
Reed AlertForget Michelle Yeoh and her stupid movie, the worst thing about Section 31 will always be Malcolm Reed.
