The cost comes from court costs from appeals as well as housing. IIRC. Most people who are on death row spend their entire lives going in and out of court trying to appeal their sentence from death to life in prison.

I've seen this argued and it's just fucking nonsense. There is no way that killing an inmate is more expensive than housing them for the rest of their lives not to mention the space they waste up in prisons in the first place.

Even if you wanted to give Kimmel and co the benefit of the doubt (which no one should), there's no way to argue that there was not a 100 different ways he could have made the statement that wouldn't imply what he did. It wasn't an off the cuff remark, he was reading it off a teleprompter from a script. The statement was planned, written and worded that way specifically to be inflammatory.

GamerGate was just a phase of the larger "culture war". Don't forget that Athiesm+ and the Richard Dawkins stuff happened before GamerGate. Before Athiesm+ it festered in universities. Woke-era happened after GamerGate, when corporations went full in on the ideology, causing some normies to notice. I don't know why or how we went from using the term "SJW" to "Woke", but it clearly marks the change in phase.

Yeah we need to get rid of that, too. You should get one appeal and that's it. Anybody sentenced to death their execution should be carried out MANDATORY within 3 years. People like to say "oh wrongfully convicted wrongfully convicted", but those are all cases from before DNA.
If you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt with DNA or non coerced confession or ballistics or something that close to 100% finds the person guilty, fuck em. Give them one appeal date in 6 months and after that take them out back.

Ol' Smokey can also have execution issues, but not nearly as badly as lethal injection. I think the last guy executed in Florida with the electric chair didn't die quickly and started bleeding from the nose. They keep trying to make execution "dignified and painless" but we keep finding reasons why the methods aren't good enough and they change again. How about none of that matters, "the execution was completed successfully" is the goal and whatever reaches that goal is good enough?
